Question:

Confused. I have a military CUCV M1009 chevy 6.2L diesel blazer. Similar to K5. Back cover is removable behind the cab, but otherwise smooth. What safari baskets are available for this installation? I do not want to install bars but want to keep a low profile. What is available and how do I attach it without bars. Gutters are only at the front doors, very minimal.

I have a solution for you, but there is no type of cargo basket that is available to mount to a flat roof without bars. The Safari cargo baskets are designed to fit to roof racks or raised side rails.

Since you have no rails or bars on your vehicle, to be able to use a cargo basket you will need to install a roof rack. A track mounted roof rack will allow you to install the rack on the back, hard cover of the Blazer.

For a track, I recommend the Thule Top Track Roof Mount System, 42 Inches Long # THTP42. This track will mount to the top of your Blazer. The integrated PVC seal on flare-nut reduces the number of installation parts and provides a weather resistant seal. To attach the crossbars, you will want the Thule Rapid Podium Roof Mounted Foot Pack # TH460R and the Fit Kit for Podium Style Foot # THKIT3101. You can use the 60 inch Thule SquareBars # TH712500. This roof rack could be removed whenever you do not need it to maintain lower clearance.

With a roof rack, you will be able to use a wide variety of roof mount cargo baskets. I have attached a link to all of our roof baskets that are compatible with square cross bars. The Thule Canyon Roof Cargo Basket # TH859XT is a great option.
