Doing a fine job of keeping camper spare accessible. About a year ago we purchased a new camper with the spare mounted under the chassis which I find a poor location. first modification done to the camper was installing the draw tite spare tire holder. Installed an anti rattle clamp and it has worked without any need for additional modifications. Very happy.

Adam from E Trailer was great to work with. Directed me to the correct products. Placed my order and the items arrived within time they were supposed to. I highly recommend E Trailer. I have purchased other hardware as well as electrical wiring harnesses from them and everything has been as advertised.

by:

Very nice spare tire mount. I bought this one to go on the back of my Aliner RV. It fits snugly up to the back without hitting anything and doesn't protrude out too far. Very sturdy construction. Hardware included to mount the spare tire. I purchased a 5/8" x 3" bolt, flat washer and nuts to permanently attach the mount to the hitch. The job turned out very nice; it looks like it was professionally done.

by:

Bought this to carry a spare tire on the front trailer hitch receiver that I installed on the front of my Ford E-450 motorhome. I am very happy with the quality, finish and fit.

by:

I did NOT use this product as was intended, I have used it for the last year as a spare tire mount on the front of my work van, it has been on there and driven every day through any weather and has held up very well, it still looks and performs the same as it did when new.

by:

Easy install with 245x75x16 8 lug on my 2500HD Duramax. Hardly notice the angle of the carrier.Glad I had a Draw tite j hook locking hitch pin and receiver.

by:

Accomplished exactly what I needed! Great service from etrailer.

by:

Product is almost perfect for my application. However, the supplied bolts are about 1/2 inch to short and they are not a size your local hardware store carries. They are 7/16 inch. I can get only 3/8 or 1/2 bolts locally.

INSTALLED EASILY, EASY INSTRUCTIONS

by:

Great build quality......works as adver tized.

by:

The item seems like it will do what I needs it to do, my issue is with the shipping, I don't know who did it but it appears the the box was opened in shipping and resealed. The item has several spots where it was dropped and chipped the paint.

by:

Tight fit in receiver and well built.

by:

Hitch mount spare tire carrier works great, used for many miles with no issues. Easy on and off. All purchases have been good quality.

Very happy with spare carrier, works well

by:

Very rugged construction. Carried heavy spare to the top of Alaska with no issues.

by:

what can i say, i purchased this spare tire carrier to carry the spare tire for my 5th wheel RV, easily installed tire fits the only suggestion would be for longer carriage bolts the bolts supplied may be ample for a standard steel wheel however the bigger RV's have a much thicker wheel rim. the supplied bolts using the lock washer did not leave any bolt threads past the nut.

by:

I like the flexibility of this product -- good for carrying an extra trailer spare. Nice that it comes with bolt retainers. A little wiggly in my front receiver, but not enough that I have bothered to shim it. I would like to get a couple more for my other trailer tire sizes.

by:

As usual the product arrived promptly and in good condition. Due to my large wheels and tires I needed to build a spacer to go between the wheel and the mount but overall it is great, solid and will provide adequate storage for a second spare, especially since the camper would have to be removed to access the factory mounted spare. I recommend a good hitch tightener (available from etrailer) to prevent movement but that is a factor of the system, not the product.

by:

Received the Universal Spare Tire Carrier yesterday. It is exactly what I expected and will work perfectly for my Class B motorhome. Once I receive the balance of my order (Yakima Backwing) I will be set.

Thank you etrailer.

by:

Well we searched for quite awhile, returned a "universal spare tire carrier" from another site that didn't hold our 75# deep dish rimmed spare tire for our class C motorhome and finally came across this one. We were able to mount the tire but not with the deep dish toward the carrier, but it fits fine the other way. We have yet to leave the driveway but feel good about the purchase, looks like we can safely leave for Alaska with a spare tire on board!!

by:

It's fine as intended. Reasonablely priced and fast shipping. Can't do better than that !

Its as tight as Scrooge ! Has not budged. Holds spare securely. I highly recommend this carrier if it fits your application.

by:

This tire carrier really worked well for my application. 27x8.5x14 all terrain tire fit easily. Currently it is mounted on the rear receiver with no issues. Would recommend getting the anti-rattle hitch pin kit also.

by:

i ordered This Item, The Sales people are vary knowledgable, Courteous ,the product arrived quick and Packaged correctly, installation was a snap as i ordered the front receiver part also earlier ,The product fit my Toyota Tundra as intended, after i installed my Spare tier on the tier carrier no one damages my front and bumper or grill on my truck as the street i Park is vary Busy all the time as lots of restaurants near by,This product just solved my entire problem as people Pay attention how they parallel park without bumping in to my Truck, it is a total lifesaver. I highly recommended.

by:

I haven't yet installed the product but I did want to comment on the service--Outstanding! My order was processed promptly and shipped quickly. I received an email notifying me of the shipment and tracking information and a follow up after delivery to make sure all was well. Frankly, I was surprised. It seems as we move more and more towards e-commerce, the service-after-the-sale has been diminishing. Kudos to etrailer.com and George J. for demonstrating that some companies are still customer service focused. Great job and thanks much! I will be a return customer.

by:

The quality is fine. It will not fit my 295, 70,R 17 onto my front receiver hitch. Thankfully I have a welder. Im sure it will work great for many smaller tires.

by:

Fits as expected. I added a hitch tightened to cut down on wobbling or bouncing. I installed a wheel spacer to the carrier since this seems to be designed for a steel wheel and the fasteners would not hold my aluminum wheel without causing some cosmetic damage.

  • Spare Tire Carrier Solution for Truck with Slide in Camper
Since we don't have a way to attach a spare carrier to the rear of your slide-in camper your best option would be a hitch mounted spare carrier like part # 6715 installed in the front hitch of your truck. If you can get me the year/make/model of your truck I can see which front hitch would fit it for this carrier.

I have an option with less of an angle but there is not an option that is perfectly vertical besides the Roadmaster Spare Tire carrier part # RM-195125 like you mentioned. However, the Draw-Tite Spare tire carrier option part # 6715 has less of an angle compared to the Curt. It is also angled out instead of in so the tire is angled dramatically upwards like with the Curt option. I have attached photos so that you can compare the two carriers. CE Smith Spare Tire Cover # CE27440 is designed to be slipped over a mounted spare tire. It does not require you to unbolt the spare from the trailer or tire carrier. If your old cover needs to be cut off you can probably then pull it out from between the tire and the trailer. • Why Does Front Mount Spare Tire Carrier # 6715 Have Lower Weight Capacity than Trailer Hitch
The Front Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # 6715 that you referenced is designed to mount to a front hitch like the Draw-Tite # 65028 that you also mentioned, so both components are going to have their own weight capacity. It's important to keep in mind that with any type of setup, you will always be limited by your weakest component. So since the Spare Tire Carrier itself can only handle up to 100 pounds, you will need to adhere to this limit when mounting the tire (even though the trailer...

To answer your first question, spare-tire bike racks, including the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Rack # TH963PRO, is designed specifically for use on vehicles with a spare tire mounting plate that attaches to a vehicle door, and as such they are likely not going to be compatible with the Front Mounted Trailer Hitch Universal Spare Tire Carrier # 6715 and I do not recommend using them on a hitch-mounted carrier.
