Video Transcript for Review of Pacer Performance Vehicle Lights - Roof Lamp - PP20-221S

Hey everyone, I'm Ellen, here at etrailer.com. today we're taking a look at the Pacer Performance Hi-Five Led Truck Cab Light Kit. Now, this is going to be styled after the 1988 through 2002, Chevy and GM factory roof lights. So, this gives us that big bright look on our truck helps add a little bit of extra visibility for our other passengers out of the road. Especially, in inclement weather, rain, fog, snow, things like that. Helps other drivers to see us as we're coming down the highway.

Now, these do come with everything you see laid out here on the table. They are going to have our lights with the lens and then this rubber foot and I already have one of the sockets in place. This is basically how you want it to be wired up. There are two little holes that your wires will come out of at the bottom there. And then it just kind of have to coax this little guy into that rubbery part. The boot is pretty flexible and these also have a little bit of flex.

So, it's a little tricky to get it all the way seated in there. So that's, why I did it off camera just to save us a little bit of time today. This comes with led bulbs and our incandescent bulbs. So, you can really use either one. I would definitely suggest using the incandescence since they're going to be longer-lasting.

Typically, a little bit brighter at least and use a little less energy as well. So, we have less draw on our system. I'm going to push this into the socket so, we can look at what it looks like whenever it's all installed. The red wire's going to go to power, black wire goes to ground, which is the little black wire coming out of the ring terminal.Turn on my power source and if it doesn't light up at first it might not be seated all the way in there or it is polarity sensitive so, we might have to take it out and flip it around. So, what I'm going to do here is flip it 180 degrees, pop it back in there, turn on, there we go.

It was a good idea to check that before you get everything installed, makes things easier. So, you can see inside our housing it's not going to be super bright but we don't want to blind anybody out on the road. It's just adding a little bit of extra lights to the top of our vehicle. I really could only show you one light lit up at a time. So, I'm sorry that it doesn't have all of them lit up all at once, but can use your imagination there.I'm going to turn out the lights in the studio, give you a little better idea of what that looks like in the dark. So again, not super duper bright, but enough to get the idea as you're going out on the road. Now, this kit has the lens or the smoke lens. So that's, going to be a darker lens for those trucks that want to kind of have that murdered out look or that all-black look. Maybe Batman look depending on how you want to look at it. So, if you wanted to replace your original lights with these great option, maybe add a new kit into a different vehicle, whatever the case might be. Turn that off there, unhook my wiring and then we can talk about what else comes in our kit. So, the way that this is designed to work is that we'll have one wire going between all of our lights. So the quick splice connectors work pretty well to help you to do that since you can lay that wire in the housing there and then clamp in the next one. So, it can keep that continuous stream going. Normally, I would sell you to opt-out or to switch those out for some butt connectors. But in this instance, especially if we're not making that connection outside of our vehicle, it should work out just fine. You do need to probably drop the headliner in your vehicle to get the wiring in place. Since a lot of it's going to be inside the vehicle, you might actually be able to wire it a little bit differently, maybe just up around the front of your headliner. So, you might only need a tuck a little bit out of the way, but just as something to keep in mind there, we do get a fuse with our system. So, if you undo this, this is actually going to be two wires. We'll have our fuse, which is kind of a shorter piece, that little terminal on the end, which connects to our switch. The other longer wire also has a terminal, goes to the other side of our switch and this is that wire that connects between all of our lights. So, it is going to be fuse-protected. We do get a switch so we can operate this independent of our factory lights, which is nice because then you don't have to worry about wiring into your vehicles, lighting, and voiding any warranties or anything like that. Also, comes to the hardware to Mount each light, some rubber O-rings to provide water protection around the head of those screws, screws to mount our switch in place in our dash. So, you'll basically just Mount it like that with both screws, going up into your dash, probably underneath. Somewhere within reach, but not obstructing your view and not causing any issues with getting to your gas and brake pedals. That's pretty much all that comes with it and pretty much all you need to get it done. So, it should be pretty straightforward install. You want to make sure that you measure twice drill once. You do have to do some drilling to get those holes, drill that for your hardware to come through. As far as the overall size of our lights, it's about five and three-quarter inches long and then about two and seven-eighths inches wide and overall about one and a half inches tall with that rubber boot in place. Although, our lights are going to be the same. This is available in a clear lens and an amber lens. If you'd like to get that instead, you can find those right here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching and that's going to do it for our look at the Pacer Performance Hi-Five Led Truck Cab Light Kit for Chevy and GMC trucks.

Overall good product however the markup for the LED's is insane. The included LED's are just stapled to the standard packaging and not to mention they are very cheap bulbs. Only reason I purchased this unit was because the other one wasn't in stock. I would just buy the standard unit and purchase quality bulbs from [online vendor].

fairly quick shipping..my truck has never had lights...but have installed them on every truck I've owned ( 4 ), This is my 5th. Everything was in the box. It even came with little washers for the screw heads. I used silicone just in case. I was very skeptical of the supplied ground wires but they all worked!!.. I decided on the old style bulbs this time. Might switch if they don't last then I will go to the LED's. I used a different toggle switch than the one supplied. Really like the set so far. I have never seen a truck like mine with cab lights. Maybe others will try it now?

by:

Look good on the truck, one of the center lights became loose so it was not making great contact and therefore was out. I got it working again, but it was a hassle taking the light off the truck to just spin the light a little bit.

The Pacer Performance High-5 lights on my 1992 Ford F350 are high quality. They fit the original screw holes perfectly. The LED lights are bright. The wire connectors were different, but that was no problem. I cut off the connectors and used crimp-on connectors, then taped the connections securely with electrical tape.

by:

Great product, I replaced existing lights with these. Hole pattern was exactly the same as my old lights. I had two issues not related to the product. My old lights only had one wire through the cab. They had a jumper wire that went from bulb socket to mounting screw for the light.
As far as replacing existing lights goes, this product is great.
For a complaint, the instructions nor video showed me what the little rubber washers were for. Since there were 10 of these I assumed they were for the mounting screws. I used mine for lens cover screws.
I also used silicone under foam pad, on top of foam pad, on mounting screws, and after install was complete I added it at base of lens and around base of light. All not needed but cant hurt to keep water out.

Definitely reccomend this companies products.

They look great! Pretty simple install, everything you need is included and the easy splice makes it even easier to wire everything together. They give you 6, so I just used the last one to tap into my headlights and they turn on automatically whenever those are on. LED’s are pretty bright and that’s what I went with, but they also give you the classic bulbs to choose from as well. 4 stars for now just to see how they hold up!

by:

The cab lights I ordered came in a timely manner and they were oem quality!

by:

One year on, these lights are holding up very well. Installation was pretty simple, I did have to break out a drill to enlarge the factory holes - I believe the factory lights used sheet metal screws to attach to the top of the cab through the lens and these use a metal stud attached to the light base with a nut that tightens from inside the cab (it's been a year and my memory is fuzzy). Outwards though these lights look completely stock. They sealed well and I've experienced no issues with water leaks. 100% suggest these to anyone wanting to replace or upgrade their stock lights to LED while retained the OE look.

by:

Lights and everything arrived quickly, everything needed was in the packaging. The only thing I did differently was I wired the lights into my existing light switch instead of a separate switch, just bought 16 gauge wire from hardware store. I added some t10 LED lights which look awesome at night! During the day LED or incandescent bulbs are not very visible anyway. Overall awesome product!

by:

Good set of lights , actually need another set. Very happy with them

by:

After reading not so good reviews on other cab lights I found these and saw nothing but good things about them and when I had them installed I was more than happy with them. I would recommend to anyone wanting to put cab lights on their truck

by:

The lights were purchased as replacement for the existing lights already on the truck, so all the hard work of drilling the holes and running the wiring was already done. What little installation I had to do was fairly easy, and simple. The lights match the originals exactly and you can't tell them apart from the old ones. The package was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged within a few days. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the order and I will be using your company for future purchases and I will definitely recommend your company to other people who need the type of things you supply.

by:

I have ordered many times and have always had great experience!!

by:

Purchased and installed the cab lights from etrailer.com. Shipped quickly, reasonably priced and a very easy installation. They look great on the truck. There some great write ups on the web explaining how to easily drop the headliner. Thanks etrailer.

by:

Great lights looks amazing on my GMC, i could not be happier. I had the installed as no one wants me wiring anything. The LED bulbs are nice and bright. I would recommend these lights to anyone.

by:

Lights exactly as described. Package came with both LED bulbs and incandescent bulbs. Easy to install. I watched the installation video which was very helpful. I only installed 4 as my vintage truck has a middle rotating beacon.

by:

The smoked lens look great! On my 2017 black 3500 RAM. Install took about 45 minutes. LED bulbs need to go the right way to work. Shipping was quick, and thanks to Jason and everyone at etrailer for making the ordering process easy.

by:

Bought these lights about a year ago and they look and work great! The lighting makes a perfect red and they are very bright as well, but that can depend on the bulbs you decide to use. Easy installation too!

by:

Straightforward install. Worst part was dropping the headliner. Tapped into the power source at passenger side kick panel in my 97 Ford. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

These have only been on for a few days but they seem to be a very reliable option if your truck needs cab lights. Straight forward install and I was pleased to find out the bases and lenses are molded of a nice poly plastic. I was worried the bases would be weak and flimsy. I ordered two sets, one set for a 2000 f350 that never had cab lights, and a second set for a 2002 f350 that already had cab lights but were aged and weathered. I was able to get my drilling dimensions from one truck and just transfer over to the other. Simply dropped the headliner, marked my holes on masking tape, drilled holes, mounted lights, and ran wiring down to behind my headlight switch tapped into the running lights wire. I did go the extra mile and added some silicone around my bolt and wire holes for a little extra insurance prior to putting the headliner back in place. I was a little intimidated to start with but after all said and done I would have no issue doing this over again on multiple trucks. I'm not a professional mechanic by trade, just handy enough to do my own exhaust, stereo, and lighting installs as well as oil changes etc. These cab lights can be installed by novice wrench turners. etrailer does however need to update their website pictures though. The updated version of these lights have studs molded into the bases so they are held on by a nut and washer from inside the cab. The pictures on etrailer must be a previous version that were fastened by sheet metal style screws screwed in from the topside. Pacer Performance website shows the proper product, etrailer should make that a priority to follow suit and update their literature. The molded studs is a much better design! Kudos Pacer Performance!

Had these lights on my truck for a year now and they work great the installation was pretty easy. I installed them on my ram 1500

by:

Look just lock factory

by:

Very well made cab lights. My only suggestion would be to buy a better set of led bulbs and swap them before installation. I had bulbs that burnt out after 9 months.
