Today on our 2015 Toyota RAV4, we're going to do a test fit of the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack System. Now, this is a great product for your RAV4. It's going to allow you to get any of your favorite accessories on your roof, whether you got a bike rack, a kayak carrier or even a cargo basket. It's going to allow you to get those appropriate gear up on your roof, so you don't have to try to store them in your vehicle. Now, this roof rack is made up of a couple of different parts. First, we have our 53 inch Evo WingBars. These are going to have a nice aerodynamic shape to them, so that's going to help cut down wind noise and drag when you compare them to your standard square or round bars. Now, what's really cool that Thule did, when compared to load bars, is when you flip open that cap and look at the channel, the old load bars, you had to pull out the rubber strip and then cut it to length for whatever T-track accessory you wanted to use.
With this new system, we have two different strips that all you have to do is push in-between them and slide your accessory in to wherever you want on your roof. Then, to secure it, you just tighten it down. Now, this bar is also available in silver. Now, the second part is going to be our Evo raised rail feet, which is what's connecting our WingBar to our raised side rail. It's a pretty basic part. It just has a clamp that comes around the raised rail and just squeezes it.
Once you tighten it down, we'll take the end cap off, take a look at the inside of it. You see we're only going to have one tightening bolt. What's cool is that once you tighten that down, not only is it going to tighten the clamp down onto the raised side rail, but it's also going to tighten itself onto the crossbar. Now, that's not moving at all, so your crossbar is not going to slide at all while you're traveling. Now, once you put the end cap back on, you're going to see that we have these little pop locks which, if you want to, you can purchase some Thule lock cores sold separately. That's just going to give you more security for your roof rack. How I got the front bar in place was you really have a lot of options based off where you want to place your certain accessory on your roof.
Basically what I just did was I came up to the edge of where the raised side rail starts. Now, I'm going to go ahead and give you guys some measurements. First from the top of our roof to the bottom of our WingBar, that's going to be three and a half inches. That's plenty of space to get any clamp-on accessories, anything that has a steel strap to come under your crossbar, and it's plenty of space where it won't damage the top of your vehicle as long as you don't let it hit. Now, what's great is that this roof rack system isn't going to interfere with the ability to use your sunroof. We still have full usability, this doesn't even come close to making contact. You're not going to have to worry about anything right there.
Now, the load capacity for this roof rack system is going to be 220 pounds, which is a step up from Thule's load bars. You want to double check with your RAV4's owner's manual to make sure the roof can handle that weight. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's show you how it installs. It's going to be a pretty simple assembly process. Both bars are going to assemble the same way. We'll flip our WingBar over, we'll take the end cap off the side that doesn't have the Evo clamp. Really, all we got to do is take our clamp foot, we just take that notch and slide it in the channel. Wiggle it around a bit, make sure we can get it in, there we go. Put the end cap back on.Make sure you have the fatter side of our bar facing forward, and then just go ahead and put it up. Get it into place. Before we do any tightening down, we're going to have to make a measurement for our crossbar spread. Now, it doesn't really matter what your spread is. Sometimes you can just base it off whatever accessory you're hauling, just check those instructions. For now, we're just going to go about 24 inches which is probably the minimum we want to do.We're going to go from the front of our front WingBar to the front of our back WingBar. Make sure it's the same on both sides. There we go, there's one and then the second one. There we go. Once you have that done, you can start going back and forth from each side tightening it down a little bit each way.As it gets tighter, you're going to notice that our tool is actually going to let us know when we have it tight enough. When you hear that click, it's going to let you know it's tight enough. Just grab your end cap, put it on. Once you do that to both sides, you're ready to load up your favorite Thule accessories and hit the road. That'll do it for our look at the Thule WingBar Roof Rack System on our 2015 Toyota RAV4.

Premium, aerodynamic crossbars attach to Thule feet to create a quiet, stylish roof rack for your vehicle. Dual rubber strips in T-slots let you easily mount accessories - no trimming required. Simple to center and install with integrated scales.I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.
Whisper quiet, no discernible effect on MPG, easy to use with our Thule box and racks, and looks absolutely great. Great purchase and way worth it!
I just got my packages and had it installed within the hour very satisfied
No problems installing. The rack is doing fine.
Product was right fit for my vehicle and installed perfectly. Etrailer was knowledgeable and got the goods to me quickly. Enjoyed working with them and will again.
Easy to install, fit and finish are top notch.
Excellent! Worked perfectly with the feet from my other vehicle!
I've owned this roof rack for a year now, and it has served my purposes (carrying my kayak around on my truck) quite well. It was fairly easy to assemble, largely because the entire instruction guide was in pictures.
I have had to retighten the rack a couple of times since putting it on the roof, so I tie the kayak down to the front and back of the truck as well as to the roof rack. I suspect the ocean kayak puts a bit of lift on the roof rack resulting in the loosening.
Worked perfectly on my 2020 GMC Sierra. Looks and works great.
I have almost always had roof rails on my vehicles. My F150 had no rails and I was nervous about clamp style rack holders given what I tend to carry on top. These have been great and I am positive I have overloaded them numerous times.
Great quality products! Easy installation with properly guided instructions. One of the best tracking information, from ordering to delivery. Would strongly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for roof or hitch bike racks.
Thule rack looks great on my Kia Telluride. The pieces took a while to get to me because they were on backorder but it's not etrailer, they were on backorder everywhere. I messed up a piece of the rubber while installing and etrailer sent me another one free of charge. Would definitely recommend etrailer.
I’ve had my Thule roof rack for a year. It’s sturdy and easily handles two kayaks. Love it!
Easy to install with the anchors and crossbars, and still holding up great a year later.
Excellent system
I bought the Thule Evo Roof Rack to transport my kayak on my Lexus 300H. Thule will advise you on their website that his particular rack is not right for a Lexus 300H (i.e., they don't make a roof rack for a Lexus 300H); it is really for a Camry, but etrailer told me that is worked, I trusted them and they were correct. After all, a Lexus sedan is really a fancy Camry, but Thule will not acknowledge this point. It works great. Thule makes a solid product.
Sturdy and working as expected.
Seamless ordering and delivery. Video instructions very helpful
Holds everything we need and it looks g reat!
All good: shipping, install, product.
Solid foot for Thule roof rack. Used these for square bar but applicable for aero bar options as well.
Solid crossbars for my 2018 4Runner. Didn't notice any lag or noise on the freeway.
This was the part I needed to add Thule kayak lift to my roof rack. System costs a fortune, but all is well made and works great.
Works real well!
I really love my roof rack I got from this site. At first, I was having a heard time trying to figure out the right fit for my 2017 Acura MDX. I did a research only and watched videos on youtube. I even purchased the same thule roof rack from [online vendor] but it wasn't the right fit. When I made my way to this site, they not just have the right recommendation, but they also have the right parts for my vehicle. If I ever needed anything for my vehicle and they have it on this site, I will have no trouble getting it from here. I am a happy customer and I just wanted to say thank you!
