Video Transcript for Inno Aero Crossbars Review - 2020 Chevrolet Equinox

Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our Inno Roof Rack system with the 54 inch long crossbars, the Through Feet for naked roof, and the Custom Fit Kit for your 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. If you wanna carry cool items like kayaks, or surfboards, paddle boards, or if you wanna carry a roof-mounted bike rack, or have extra cargo options with a roof box or a roof basket, what you first need is an aftermarket roof rack, just like this. So, this is designed to create that roof rack system, even though you have a naked roof on your Chevrolet Equinox. So we'll talk about how it does that, as well as how to install it, right here in this video.

So the crossbars we have here, are the 54 inch long crossbars. So there's different options for you, depending on what you're carrying. If you want the longer kit, that's gonna be this. If you want something that's more low profile, feels more flush, that's gonna be the 51 inch long crossbar kit. I prefer this length, because it gives you more overhang.

So measuring from the end of the tower to right before the end cap, we have 2 1/2 inches of overhang. So for some accessories, you're able to clamp them around the edge, and that makes it easier to reach whatever you have up on there. Now with a naked roof rack, though, you are limited when it comes to the crossbar spread. Now that's because this is custom fit, so it has hooks that fit around the contours of your vehicle. So, you wanna make sure they're in the perfect spot.

So measuring from crossbar spread, which is center to center it would sit at two feet and a half inch, so 24 1/2 inches apart. So, if you have accessories that have your clamps in a specific spot, just double check the appropriate crossbar spread to see if it fits with your roof rack. Next is gonna be the height added to the top of your roof. So, measuring from the top of the roof to the top of the crossbar, we have it at 4 3/4 inches, or about that measurement. And that's gonna be where your cargo sits.

So let's say you're carrying skis and snowboards, you're gonna have those sitting up on there, plus on top of your accessories. If you have extra large bindings, you wanna make sure you have enough clearance between your cargo and the top of the roof, so it doesn't hit your vehicle. This does have a weight capacity of 140 pounds. So, if you're carrying around your different cargo, make sure to add up the weight of the cargo and the weight of your accessory, and make sure that doesn't exceed 40 pounds. Another thing with this is that this is made of aluminum. So, that means your roof rack system itself is going to be lightweight, although your towers will probably be the heaviest part of the system. These are gonna be the Inno Aero bars, and I pretty much like how our more modern bars are designed to be aerodynamic like this. If you had the traditional round or square cross bars and you went down the highway, you would remember hearing all that wind drag and wind noise. This helps reduce that wind drag and wind noise. Plus, it has a T-track system. So once you take the end caps off, or if you don't have enough clearance for underneath for your clamps, you just slide your T-track accessories into it, you don't have to do any cutting or fitting around the accessory, tighten it down. That way you can utilize the entire 54 inch long crossbar, and you're not limited to where the clamps can fit around. So, this system utilizes the Through Feet towers, that allow you to have those crossbars that have overhang. One thing I really like about these towers, is how they have integrated locks. So, some other brands require you to add lock cores, to get everything in place and secure. This one has two keys included and four lock cores, so one for each tower. That way, with that end cap locked in place, people don't have access to the hardware to take off your roof rack. Now, this does not lock your crossbar itself, though. So if you want to lock your accessories, like the T-track accessories that are mounted onto your crossbars, you may wanna consider cable locks, locking straps, or accessories that have their own locks. So, this has a custom-fit kit. That's why it's very important to use our fit guide here at etrailer.com on our website, to make sure you get the right fit for your vehicle. So for example, we have these pads that fit around the contours of our roof. Then we also have these hooks that fit perfectly into our doors. So with everything lined up, if you follow all the measurements correctly, you can install it and then even slam your door on your roof rack without any worries. So this kit is gonna include everything you need to install it, but there's some other things that I use just to make it a little bit easier for me. One of them is gonna be the Moki doorstep. This clips right into the side of your door, gives you that extra height helpful for strapping things down. And speaking of straps, we also have the etrailer cam buckle straps. You can pick up a pair here etrailer, if you have other cargo and accessories to make it easier to strap things down and secure it. Now, the process itself may be a little bit involved, so let's take a look at that. The install process will look kinda confusing at first, and that's just how it is with naked roof racks. But that's what this video is for. Honestly, this is gonna be a very easy to do process, as long as you follow the instructions properly, and get your measurements right. So the first thing we're gonna do, is figure out why are there different numbers for the pads, as well as the hooks. And then we can figure out what our front crossbar is gonna look like, and our rear crossbar is gonna look like. I already installed the front crossbar, let's install the rear one together. So, underneath the foot pads is gonna be a number. So this is 423, and that's gonna fit right onto your towers. And you're gonna wanna make sure it faces the right way. So to make that easier, we are going to install the towers, and notice how this has tabs on top, as well as a bolt. That's gonna line up with our plate. So the plate fits right into this opening here. So you're gonna slide that all the way out to the edge of your crossbar, right over there. Then you're gonna fit the plate into that tray. So just follow or line up those tabs and those openings, and then slide it back through. Now fit your crossbar over the plate. So remember, that's going to line up with that bolt, and then use your included tool. This is gonna be an Allen key, included with your kit, to slightly tighten down that bolt onto the plate. So we're gonna put the pad onto the tower now, and if you're not sure which way it should face, there are little bolts or screws there, just line that up with the holes on the pad. It should pop right through. Then you're gonna measure for where these towers should go. So you just press on that lever on the inside, and then you push the tower through, line it up with the measurements given in your instructions, and make sure it's the same on both sides. Just double check that before you tighten it down with the included tool. Once you have those towers secured to the corrected measurements, let's go check it out on top of our vehicle. I don't put the hooks on just yet. We want this at 500 millimeters away from our center stave, or center portion of our door, so let's just get it roughly up there. So once you have everything lined up, you've double checked that your measurements are good, and you'll also see that you did this right if you can see how this pad is perfectly flushed against the ridges of our roof. So now, our next step is just to line up the hook. We have the metal washer, the plastic washer, and then the bolt. Just slightly throw that on by hand before you tighten it down. Remember when tightening down, try to tighten it down like 75% on one side, then you go to the other side, just go back and forth so you don't over tighten it and skew it. You're gonna use an Inno torque tool. So this one is set to three newton meters, so you wanna use this so you don't over tighten down your roof rack. So, you wanna keep tightening it until you hear it click, and then make sure it clicks twice. Kinda like a gap cap. There we go, that was a click. Once you've tightened down everything, and just double checked that all four towers are good and that all the pads are flush on the ridges of your roof, your final step is to put the end caps on. There's two different end caps. One is gonna be the tower, so that just kinda clips into that hinge. You have it in the unlocked position, turn it to the locked position to secure that end cap. Then you have the nice end caps for the cross bars. Those just pop right in. Do all four tower end caps, all four crossbar end caps. Once everything's in place, that's it, you ready to load this up and hit the road. And this right here was a look at our Inno Roof Rack system with the 54 inch long crossbars, the Through Feet for naked roofs, and the Custom Fit Kit, for your 2020 Chevrolet Equinox..

Custom Fit Roof Rack Kit With INK607 | INXB138 | INXB145 | INXS250 - IN32PR

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (121 Customer Reviews)

Low-profile, aerodynamic crossbar lets you build an aftermarket roof rack for your vehicle. Aluminum bar has a T-slot that lets you mount channel-mounted carriers and accessories. Rubber strip in T-slot keeps out dirt and won't need trimming.

Waste of money. Most annoying couple hours spent in a long time. Extremely disappointed. Does not fit well. Not exactly a cheap option, but a cheap option in terms of fit and engineering. The instructions online and in the kits do not agree. But there is no helping the design. Plus there are no universal set of instructions--they are all individual items for the fit kit, the bars, etc. But a reasonably inclined person can figure it out so no big deal, but the engineering design is garbage--requires precise measurement yet the design is such that exact measurement is impossible due to the design.

Additionally, the parts are low quality Either low density plastic or easily stripped bolts. Even when as precise as possible, I wouldn't trust it with my kayak. What a mistake. Do yourself a favor and get a Yakima trailer or similar. It isn't that much more money in the scheme of things and then it isn't tied to your car. Can add a hitch to most vehicles anyway.

Acura MDX

Racks were perfect for my Acura MDX. They fit like a glove and I have used them several times.

by:

Has worked great for transporting my fishing Kayak as well as small loads of lumber. It has worked fine for about a dozen and a half boards at a time or a couple of sheets of plywood. Just make sure that you have a good way to strap them down as well as maybe a rubber mat to help hold everything in place. The noise from it on the high way can be a lot but certainly not as bad as some that I have heard. I figure that anything on the outside of a vehicle like that will produce some noise.

by:
2016 Subaru Outback Wagon

worked as expected, I used them to carry my hobie outback kayak (about 100lbs) on my Honda Civic 2016 Coupe (2 doors). They worked with no problem so far (1 year) even under high speed like 70mph.

by:

Love the slots on top. Simply cut a 5/16 elevator head to 9/16 inches left to right, slide it on, and you can attach just about anything. The foam holds the bolts in place to make installation of an accessory easier. I put on a Thule ski box with no problem at all. Noise: I have not driven with just the racks on, only with the racks and Thule ski box. At around 60 the box gives off some wind noise (of course). Since it only comes from the box side of the vehicle it appears the racks are pretty quiet. Oh, the instructions do not say which bar is front and which is back. The only way to figure it is by using the diagram for where to tighten the feet.

2017 Lincoln MKX

We recently purchased 2 kayaks & Thule roof racks from our local outdoor store.

After waiting 2 weeks for our roof racks and J bars to come in we found that the Thule racks did not fit our 2017 Lincoln MKX and they didn't make any racks that would. The vehicle does not have roof racks and has a moon roof.

After a couple of days searching the internet we discovered etrailer.com. We found the Inno roof racks, but still was not sure they would work. We spoke to a repesenative and he assured us that the racks we chose would fit and the Thule J bars we did return would also work. As you can see by the photos 2 days later we were happy Kayakers.

This kit does not fit well. All measurements have been double and triple checked down to the millimeter. The lock on the covers interfere with the hooks. You have to apply so much pressure to get it to close that it makes the rack come loose. Not very satisfied

by:
2014 Ford Flex

I bought these as part of a kit with 60" Aero bars and the appropriate kit for my 14 Flex. I spent probably an hour and a half double checking my measurements and getting them torqued down properly. I spaced the bars on top of the car just a little wider than proscribed because I was planning on carrying 4x8 plywood, and it looked better to my eye. One thing to watch for: The instructions for the car-specific kit (in my case INK263) show the foot spacing measurements for a square bar, and the measuring point for these feet and Aero bars is different. That measurement point is indicated in the instructions for the feet, not the kit. Same numbers, just different reference point. Otherwise, they look good and are rock solid.

Dodge Durango

I did a lot of searching before selecting this rack for my Durango RT (no factory roof rails). It is easy to reinstall once the initial process is followed, I marked my doorjambs with a sharpie and it is easy to set up. Great product!

by:

Installation was a little tricky but once the "feet" were attached to the roof and the bars properly spaced, everything wrapped up very well.

There is no noticeable wind noise with these installed.

by:

Great racks. High quality parts. Fit perfectly. Went together easily.

by:

Just installed these and they seem great . Good price and good looking design . Time will tell of the overall quality but so far happy with the purchase

by:

One was extremely hard to get on compared to the others (not sure if it had some rough machining or something), but once all we’re on, all was good

by:

Started assembly last summer and finally completed installation this spring. Directions took a lot of attention to detail but were adequate. Rack went on car securely and looks great. Have attached kayak rack and a roof pod and both worked flawlessly. Would definitely recommend.

by:
Dodge Durango

etrailer was the only vendor who had the custom fit roof rack feet I needed for my vehicle. I was trying to put a roof rack onto a Dodge Durango SRT...not a typical vehicle for this accessory! I looked everywhere for a suitable roof rack and thought I was settling by ordering the Inno kit from etrailer. I could not have been more wrong! I am so happy with the purchase!

by:
Ford F-150

I have had countless bike racks over the years and this is by far the best system I have ever had. Fits like a glove on my F150. Easy to install, looks great and the bikes do not move when on the roof.

by:
Nissan Murano

Tule and Yakima did not have a rack for my Nissan murano. So it was a blessing to find the immo rack. It seems like it can fit any car model. It's strong and secure. I feel my equipment will be safe with this rack.

by:

I’ve had the system in place for over a year now and haul dual kayaks often! I love it! The only thing I wish I could change is the wind noise that’s comes with it. But I’m sure with any rook rack system you get that.

by:

Noticed box was taped up more then usual, found other manuals that was not specifically for this, and also found one of the feet already had been mounted as there was scratches on the plastic and metal parts

by:

Installation went pretty smoothly. The
trick is to fully understand each step before moving to the next. There are a lot of small parts which at first was a little intimidating, but soon I was able to "get with it". I love the finished product and think you helped me get a good deal. Thank you for that

by:
2014 Toyota Prius

Installed incredibly quickly on my 2014 Prius V with some of the best instructions I could have ever asked for. Used the video as well in tandem and got it on the car in about an hour and a half with my partner. It was a lovely experience, which is sometimes difficult for couples to say in situations like this!

by:

Seem to be well made for the price. I didn't realize that they came with locks so that was a pleasant surprise. Easy installation.

by:

They were so helpful. Geoffrey got me the parts the next day and the roof rack works great. Easy assembly. Just needed a little muscle power to click the final pieces together. Everything else was an easy bolt.

by:

There work great and were easy to install. e-trailer rocks and so does Justin.

by:
Mazda

Product is great. Fits perfectly with some minor measurement adjustments. Can be assembled by one person, but helps to have two. Bought the complete roof kit and well as the Inno 80 basket for a Mazda CX3, took about two hours to assemble everything.

I'm happy to inform you that this custom fit is compatible with a 2014 5-Door Ford Focus. • Roof Rack Recommendation for 2000 Honda Civic Sedan
We have roof racks that are a fit for your 2000 Honda Civic sedan but Sportrack does not have any fits for the sedan models of your vehicle. Also worth mentioning is that the Sportrack roof racks don't generally fit well so we try not to recommend them since they are only a semi-custom fit and not a full custom fit. Instead the Inno roof rack part # INXB123-2, # INXS250, # INK707 would be your best option. This the best priced option that fits your vehicle, it's a custom fit rack so it...

Yes, under the 2012 Honda Civic in the vehicle fit guide you can click on roof racks and enter in the option for "coupe". I recommend looking into an aero crossbar setup which will be low-profile, quiet, and have less vibration compared to other designs. I would also look at one that has the top channel/track which allows for various accessories to be easily installed or removed. I'd be more than happy to help you out! Since your plan is to keep the cargo loaded on your vehicle while at a hotel you'll want to stick with a cargo box.
