If you got a roof rack system like we have on top of our Malibu here, you wanna transport some ski and snowboards around or even in the summer months with these particular ski and snowboard carriers, some fishing rods, the Yakima Fresh Tracks are a good way to do that. You can get the Fresh Track in a four or six version. This is the four right here, which means it can carry up to four skis or two snowboards. How's it going everyone It's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at our Titan Chain Cable Chains on our 2022 Chevrolet Malibu. These chains are gonna be a roller style of chains which the dealer typically recommends, because they give you the most clearance in the back in the wheel well area. So, as far as that goes, it's what they recommend. But as far as longevity goes and using them over the course of a few seasons, it may not be the best choice. The reason why these chains might not last as many seasons is because it's made of a low carbon steel which isn't nearly as rust or corrosion resistant. more

How's it going It's Ethan at etrailer here, and today, we have our pewag Snox Pro Self-Tensioning Tire Chains on our 2022 Chevrolet Malibu. These tire chains are a solid entry level choice, they are diamond pattern, which gives you more coverage on the road, and they're a decent choice for inclement weather, including ice and snow. With the diamond pattern, you get more coverage of the tire, so you get a little bit more traction, and you also get less bumpiness compared to a ladder style chain. The links of the chains themselves are square, which is good on the flat side for biting into ice, and the way that they interlink with one another is also good for preventing snow clumping. The chains themselves are made of a manganese nickel alloy, which is gonna protect your chains for multiple seasons from rust and corrosion. The interlinks also have a protective coating that's just gonna protect your fingers when you're putting it on in the ice and cold conditions, so your hands don't get stuck to the actual chains themselves. more

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2022 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu. Now this is what your hitch is gonna look like when it's installed, and you can see it is slightly visible from a lower angle, but as you're standing up or if you're in a car behind it, all you really see is the receiver opening. And this one is going to be an inch and a quarter. So you're gonna be a little bit limited as far as selection of bike racks, cargo carriers, and ball mounts but there's still plenty of them available to choose from. Now when you are putting your accessories in place, they're gonna be held in by a half inch pin and clip, and it does not come with the hitch. A lot of your accessories will come with a pin and clip, but if you want pick up an extra or a locking version that way you can lock your accessories in. more

Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we'll be taking a look at the Yakima StageTwo 2-Bike Platform Rack right here on our 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. So this is a bike rack for class 2 inch-and-1/4 hitch receivers. So if you have an inch-and-1/4 hitch receiver, you know that you have limited options for your vehicle. So for example, on the Malibu, that was the hitch we have on there, but if you also have heavy electric bikes large mountain bikes, bikes of different shapes and sizes, and you just want a good solution to carrying them around, that's where the Yakima StageTwo comes in handy. It has all those different features, those different specs, and we'll talk about them, but we're gonna focus on our Malibu today. So this is gonna be a platform-style bike rack like I said, it's gonna hold the bikes by the wheels. So that's nice. I really like that compared to some of the other platform-style, where they have the center mass here, that really gets in the way when you go to load the bike or take the bike off. more

We have a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. We're taking a look at the Curt inch and a quarter ball mount. On our Malibu, this is gonna be one of the better options that we have, just because it has a significant rise but we don't have any contact with our bumper. We are gonna have this one here which when you put it in, it is gonna contact the bumper. And it's pretty much unusable when this thing is basically on the ground. So if you are looking for one this is gonna be one that I recommend. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Today, on our 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms. So, here's what our base plate looks like once we have it fully installed. Our base plate is gonna be the attachment point where our tow bar is gonna hook up to, so we can safely and securely flat tow our Malibu down the road. What you're really gonna like about the base plate is the fact that when we're not towing, we can pull on this tab, right here, the arm will rotate, and then we can pull it out and we'll have a very inconspicuous look. Like most base plates, we're gonna have our safety cable connection points, right here, next to the arms. And as you can see, we'll have plenty of room to get those hooks on or off and not have to worry about fighting the grill or any part of the car. more

This will be a four style hanging bike rack that is going to allow you to carry a lot of bikes to the trail, whether it's friends or family. The one thing with hanging style bike racks is I like that it gets us up off the ground a little bit more, and it's a more economical way to carry a lot of bikes wherever we're trying to go.Now, when we are carrying bikes like this, with the hanging style, it's best to not use carbon bikes. So we don't have a carbon bike on here today. So you might want to look into platform style racks if you have a carbon bike. more

Hi there, bike enthusiast. Today on your 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to be taking a look at Tooley's Hitching Post Pro; hanging four bike rack. We can store up to four bikes on this rack using the two cradles it has per bike. In addition to the two cradles that attach to the top post, we'll have an additional anti-sway cradle for the vertical post that'll ensure that there's no bike-to-bike contact, as well as bike-to-rack contact. The adjustable rubber straps hold it in place and accommodate varying size bikes. Simply pull the strap to release it, and if you we're installing the bike, you'd simply pull it down and hook it in place. more

Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Malibu we're going to be taking a look at, and showing how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, and four pull flat trailer connector. That's part number 118689.So, here's what our wiring is going to look like once we have it installed. It is designed to stay on the inside of the vehicle until we're ready to use it. It's inaudible 00:00:22 the four pull flat trailer connector, so it'll have all the required lights to get down the road safely like our taillights, turn signals, and our brake lights.Whenever we're not towing we can simply open the trunk, and we can store our wire back here, or underneath the cover by our spare tire.Whenever we do want to tow we can simply just drop it out the trunk as long as we stay away from the latch area itself. The weather stripping will provide enough cushion to where it won't damage the wire when we close it.The nice thing about our wiring is the fact that we're not going to have to cut or splice into our factory wires. We're simply going to have a T connector that's going to plug in-line behind our taillights on each side, and then a power wire that'll run up to the battery.Our wiring kits going to have a converter box. more

Roadmaster Universal Brake Monitor Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Malibu we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Universal Brake Monitor, part number RM-9530. And to help ups with our installation we're going to be also installing the Roadmaster Universal stop light switch kit part number RM-751000. So here is what our monitor is going to look like once we have everything hooked up. On the motorhome side it's just into this small box and we're going to have a power cord and be completely portable so if we need to move to another motorhome or we're not using it we can unplug it and put it in a storage compartment somewhere. And what our monitor is going to do is it's going to monitor the braking activity on our towed vehicle so that way we can easily see it with these lights right here and an audible alert to know exactly what's going on that way it prevents us from having to look at our rear-view camera looking for a small light that's going to be on the dash or the rear view of our towed vehicle.This is going to be a lot easier to see we're not going to have to strain in those high light situations, the middle of the day where the light on the dash may not come on that bright. We'll have our lights right here close to us and whenever we press on the brake pedal on our motorhome the yellow lights going to come on underneath brake letting us know the towed vehicles brakes are applied and when we release them the light will go out letting us know that the brakes are released on the towed vehicle. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to review and install the Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite with 4 Pole Harness, part number 119179KIT.Let's go ahead and take a quick look at the ModuLite itself. This is going to be a great addition to your vehicle when you pull a trailer. First off, you notice it's got a protector here and it's labeled right here. That means that if there's any shorts or problems on the trailer, this module protects the vehicle from any shorts or damages. To give you an idea how it all works, our module is actually powered by your battery and from these input wires here, from the car, what happens is that the box will actually copy the signal and then send, using battery power, send it out to your trailer. So that way, again, if there's any problems with the trailer, it's limited to here and that's where it stops.Couple of neat things inside the box that protect the vehicle is it has a resettable breaker on the inside that's totally automatic, so you just let it sit for awhile and reset. more

Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Speaker 1: Today in this 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Fusemaster fuse bypass switch for towed vehicles, part number RM765121.Now, the reason you're going to want a fuse bypass for your Malibu is because when you're flat towing a Malibu behind your motor home, it does require the pooling of two fuses in your fuse box so your vehicle's battery doesn't become depleted. Because the transmission has to be in a neutral position, it can actually run down the battery while the fuse is being pooled.This will prevent you from having to open this cover every single time, remove the fuses, and when you get back to your destination, reinstalling the fuses in order for you to drive the vehicle. With the simple flip the switch down to the tow mode, it's like the fuses we're just renewed because it disconnects the switch. By flipping it up to drive, it's like you reinstalled the fuses because they are now supplying power to the fuse box, and all your accessories will work properly.To begin our install, we're going to locate our fuse box inside the passenger compartment of our vehicle. It's on the driver's side right here underneath our headlights switch.We'll remove our cover by using a flathead screwdriver to get inside this section here and popping it loose, and then our fuse box is behind it.Now, we need to remove our two fuses that need to be removed when the vehicle is in tow mode. We have number 10, which is this one right there, the 15 amp fuse. more

Here's what our base plate looks like installed. Now the reason that you're going to want a base plate for your Malibu is that this will serve as the connection point for your two bars so you can safely two your Malibu behind your motor home. Now what's great about this base plate is it does have removable arms. So as you see it right now, this is with the arms removed. This maintains a nice clean look on your Malibu when you're not flat towing it.When you're ready to flat tow, you can simply take your arm, insert it with this tab at a horizontal angle, rotate it 90 degrees, and your arm will lock into place. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Chevrolet Malibu, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster tail light wiring kit for towed vehicles with an LED bulb and socket, part number RM-152-LED.Now, the reason you're gonna want bulb and socket wiring for your Malibu is if you're flat towing it, this is your only option as far as lights that are internal. You can't use diodes on the Malibu because it's a variable voltage system that powers incandescent light bulbs. If you wanted not to have that, your other option is magnetic tow lights.Magnetic tow lights, they're kind of a hassle because they actually can scratch the surface of your paint, and you have to find a place to store them when you're not using them. Bulb and sockets, especially these being LED, you don't have to worry about replacing the bulb. They should last the lifetime of the vehicle for you. So it's one less thing you have to worry about.It's a separate bulb from what your vehicle uses from the factory. more

Now these are going to be great for any kind of bike racks or cargo carriers or some light duty towing.Now, obviously looking at them, we can tell that there's a big difference between our two hitches. The main difference is how they're going to mount. Our Draw Tite hitch is going to be hidden behind the bumper and all we're going to see is the receiver tube sticking out. It's going to use the factory mounting points for our bumper beam to mount up. more

So heres what our hitch is gonna look like once we have it installed on our Malibu.The cross tube is gonna be completely hidden behind the bumper here. And all we're gonna see is the receiver tube sticking out right below the bumper. It is a class 2 hitch, which means it's gonna give us that inch, and a quarter by inch, and a quarter receiver tube opening. And it's gonna be great for some light duty towing, or if you have a bike rack, or even a cargo carrier.The way we're gonna mount all of our accessories is through the hitch pin hole here on the side. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, we're gonna be installing the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 36479.This class 2 hitch is gonna be great for hauling bike racks, cargo baskets and for light towing. This is what it's gonna look like on our Malibu. As you can see here, the cross tube is nice and hidden, tucked away, so you're only gonna be able to see the receiver sticking out the end.It is a one, and a quarter inch receiver opening with a reinforced collar for extra durability. A hitch pin and clip is not included but one can be found here at etrailer.com, and it uses a 1/2 inch hitch pin. The safety chain loops are nice and wide so you'll be able to fit various size safety chains on them.It has a 300 pound tongue weight, which is the force aiming down on top of your receiver, and a 3500 pound towing capacity, which is the amount that it can haul behind it. Now you do want to check your vehicle's owner's manual to ensure you're not exceeding its weight capacities.To help you when choosing accessories, I've got some measurements for you. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to be installing the Curt T-connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, part number C56027. This connector is going to give you all of the lighting you need for your trailer through a 4-pole flat connector. It provides you with your left turn signal, right turn signal, taillight, and brake lamps, all the necessary required lights. It has an included dust cap on the end to keep out any dirt and debris and prevent corrosion, and also works kind of nice with your safety chain loops to hold it in place. There's no splicing required. It just plugs right into your existing tail lamp assemblies. more

These also come in silver. We'll also be using part number Y00146. These are the baseline towers for the Yakima crossbars, particularly for naked roofs, and finally part number Y006123. You're gonna need two of these kits. This is gonna be the base clip fit kit for the baseline roof rack system and for the Chevrolet Malibu.The Yakima jet stream roof rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your Malibu while freeing up space inside your vehicle. more

Konig Self-Tensioning Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Malibu we're gonna be test-fitting the Konic self-tensioning low-profile snow tire chains, part number TH00023103. When taking a look at these chains, the main use you're gonna get out of these is for those snow and ice situations, and a lot of that is because of the D-links and the diamond pattern with our tire chains here. If you wanted chains for white snow, you might wanna take a look at our other brands that have the rollers on them. One of the big bonuses about this tire chain system, it does have a self-tensioning system here, meaning as you drive it's going to self-tension and center around the tire so you don't have to worry about that, stopping and checking and make sure everything's working properly. Also it means you don't have to buy any aftermarket tensioners, as you would with other tire chains as well.These chains are designed to work with vehicles with limited wheel well clearance, and they are compatible with antilock brake systems. They do come with plastic bumpers, which we haven't installed for demonstration purposes, that snap to the chains around the tire to help protect the rim. more

When trying to choose tire chains for your Chevrolet Malibu, one thing to consider is the area you live in. If you're living in an area that has mostly light snows, this is gonna be perfect for you because the diagonal shape and the rollers provide a smooth ride and also assist with effective starts and stops in light snows as well. If you're looking for something more with a heavy snow or heavy snow and ice, you may wanna look at the Titan chains D-link designs or their V-bar link designs as well. Another thing that sets this apart from most of the other tire chains that we have is it actually comes with the rubber tensioners to attach this to your vehicle, while others you would have to purchase separately. These chains are designed to work with wheel wells with limited clearance, so these are SAE-class S chains, and they are compatible with all Department of Transportation regulations in all states. more

Inno Roof Rack Review - 2018 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, we're gonna be test fitting the INNO Aero roof rack system consisting of part numbers INXB108-115. These are the 42 inch long and 45 inch long crossbars. We'll also be using part number INXS200, these are the INNO flush feet for the Aero crossbars, particularly for naked roofs, and finally part number INK689, and this is the custom fit kit for the Chevrolet Malibu.The INNO Aero crossbars are great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof and freeing up space inside your Malibu. You can carry anything from bike racks to cargo baskets to ski and snowboard carriers. The bars themselves have an aerodynamic shape to them and that, coupled with the rubber strip up at the top, is gonna cut down the wind noise and drag while you're driving, reducing the need for a fairing that you may need for square or round bars.While this roof rack system does boast more of a natural factory look to it that you would get with some vehicles, it does have a disadvantage. It does cut down the amount of space that you can install your accessories with this end cap here. more
