How to Install a Yakima Q Tower Roof Rack on a 2006 Acura RSX


Today on our 2006 Acura RSX we'll be installing the Yakima roof rack system, part numbers Y00408, Y00683 and Y00124. With our load bars already set up, we're ready to go ahead and install them on the vehicle. We'll first open up the doors, and then we can set our load bar onto the roof line. Referring to our fit guide and instructions, we'll measure from the front edge of the windshield molding to the front edge of the foot pack, totaling 5 inches. Now that we have our load bar measured out, we can go ahead and tighten it down. Using the thumb wheel, we'll make the necessary adjustments to secure the foot pack firmly to the roof line.

We're ready to go ahead and install the rear load bar. Measuring from center of the front load bar to the center of the rear load bar, there is a total of 14 inches. Then, once again, we'll use the thumb wheel to make our necessary adjustments and then clamp it down. With both load bars set up and secured, we're ready to hit the road. That does it for our test fit of the Yakima roof rack system, part numbers Y00408, Y00683 and Y00124 on our 2005 Acura RSX,.

how much weight would this able to withstand

@Gio The Yakima # Y00408 crossbars do not have a published weight rating, however it exceeds that of the feet you use to mount to your bars to the roof. For instance the Yakima Skyline Towers have a weight limit of 165 pounds for the entire system. I would also review your vehicle owners manual for your roof weight limit as well.

This specific roof rack was discontinued from Yakima but we do have another option for a 2006 Acura RSX. Here is a link to it.
