How to Install: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit on your 2011 Jeep Patriot- Video
Hi there, Jeep owners, today in your 2011 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's diode wiring kit. All the components are gonna be hidden behind your taillight assembly, so you're really not gonna notice any modifications to the vehicle. They tap directly into the factory lighting circuits and they act as a one-way check valve that only lets current flow one direction to the bulbs, but it can't back feed. And this allows us to add the additional wiring for our motor home so that when we plug into our motor home, we can send all the lighting signals from our motor home to the same factory lights here on our vehicle, so that way, these will also illuminate, letting people know our intentions when we're going down the road. And when those signals come up the wires from our motor home, it'll light the bulb, but the diode prevents it from going back down the factory wiring, causing any damage to the vehicle. This is my personal favorite way to get lighting set up on your flat tow set up 'cause some of the other options, well, for example, like the Blue Ox or the Demco diodes, their diodes just don't seem to be as robust as the Roadmaster ones, these ones have a very large heat sink on them to dissipate heat and they just seem to work very well. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Jeep Patriot- Video
Rob: Hey everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness on our 2017 Jeep Patriot.Now, our Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness is going to provide us with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, that way we can have all the required lights to get down the road safely, whenever we are pulling a trailer, like our tail lights, our turn signals and our stoplights. Our wiring is designed to stay on the outside of the vehicle, which is nice because whenever we do want to hook it up, it's going to be right by our receiver tube, so we don't have to go dropping out the back of the hatch.It is going to come with a dust cover, and I always like to use the dust cover to attach my wiring to the hitch, that way it prevents it from dragging the ground. But if you'd like to put a bracket up, I think adding a bracket not only is going to give it a more of a secure mounting point, but it does look a little bit cleaner, that way our wiring again is close to our hitch, but a little bit more secure.As far as the installation goes, it's extremely straightforward. There's no cutting or splicing of the factory wires at all, so we don't have to worry about that. more

Now here's what our hitch is going to look like. I think it looks pretty good, it has almost a factory type look to it. And that's because the cross tube is going to be completely hidden behind the bumper and the only thing we're going to see is the receiver tube sticking out. Now, again, it is a class two, which means it's going to give us that inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening, and it's going to be great for some light duty towing. more

Today, on our 2017 Jeep Patriot, we're going to be taking a look at it and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class III two-inch trailer hitch receiver.Now right off the bat, my favorite thing about this hitch compared to some of the others is that we're actually going to get more ground clearance, so it's get to sit higher off the ground. That's going to be both beneficial for not only hitch mounted accessories, but for towing as well. Even though many other hitches have the same hidden design, where the only thing you're going to see is a receiver too, this does have a nice gloss black finish and blends in pretty well with the back of our Jeep.Many times, hitches that have this hidden appearance have to compromise the ease of use. That's not the case with this one. more

It has a carbide matte black finish, which is powder coat, so it's going to stand up to the elements really well and look good for a long time, and it also blends in nicely with this flat black plastic here on the bottom of our jeep.Since this is a class three hitch it's going to have that two inch by two inch opening, and it's going to work with just about any hitch mounted accessory out there. The air filter works as a barrier between the outside world and the air inside your car. Now, it prevents any type of dust, dirt, debris, or other vehicle admissions, or particulate matter like brake dust, from entering inside your vehicle and causing you to breathe it in. Fit Test: Yakima OffGrid Roof Cargo Basket with 2016 Jeep Patriot- Video
Today in our 2016 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Yakima Offgrid Roof Top Cargo Basket, part number Y07138-08.This basket mounts to the roof rack of your vehicle. It allows you to transport any cargo or sports and recreational gear on top of the roof of your vehicle, for any times where your vehicle might be full of other cargo, or family members, or if you have some sports gear that might be too muddy to put on the inside of your vehicle, it'll be nice to transport it up there until you get home and are able to wash it off.We'll go ahead and hop up here and I'll show you a little bit about the inside of it. As you can see, it's mounted down by four rubber-coated steel straps. These straps come up and under our crossbars, and they latch in right there. Once you do that, you just push it over just like that.Now, this is pretty loose right now, so we're gonna bring it back and tighten it down a bit using this blue little knob. We'll just spin it to the right just to tighten it down a bit more, so that way when we clamp it, it's a little bit tighter. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, we'll be doing a review on the Yakama long haul four bike rack, part number Y02476.First, I'd like to start by talking about the physical construction of the bike rack. This bike rack is built a little bit heavier than most, simply because it's built to go on the back of RVs or campers, so there's minimal to no movement on this bike rack.And the next, we'll go on to the zip-strip system that the Yakama has in place. You just simply pull the two tabs, pull up on the zip strip, and it's just as easy to replace.Now here, with the locking cable, you just simply unlock the locking cable, releasing access to all four of your bikes. Take the cable and push it back down into the pillar on the bike rack.Now, to take these off your bike, you start with the top ones. You take these off here, and then you can remove it from the anti-sway cradle on the back side of the upper post on your bike. And you can remove your bike.And I'd like to replace these, before you forget about 'em, they get lost or damaged in your garage or wherever you might be.Now, let's get a few measurements. more

Next, I'd like to show you how the function works of tilting. The bike rack folds in like so. Let's get a measurement on the full length, it's about 24 inches to the outest edge.With it down, it's about 11 inches and the closest point is about five-and-a-half inches. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how install the etrailer Class 3 custom fit trailer hitch receiver, part number #E98836.So here's what our hitch is gonna look like once we have it installed. The cross tube is gonna be completely hidden behind the bumper and all we're gonna see is the receiver tube sticking out. Now also the fact that it has that matte black carbide finish on it means that it's gonna blend in really nicely with the underbody right here. It's a Class 3 hitch, which means it's gonna give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening and have a really big variety of different accessories that we can mount on.Now the way we're gonna mount any of our accessories is through the hitch pin hole here on the side. It is gonna accept a standard 5/8 pin and clip. While these are not included in the clip you can pick them up here on etrailer.com.Now as far as the safety chain connection points go, we're gonna have a loop style, kind of a rolled steel stock weld to the bottom of the receiver tube. more

Set up: Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2015 Jeep Patriot- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class 3 custom fit trailer hitch receiver, part number 75712.So here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed on our Patriot. The nice thing about it is it's going to be pretty well hidden. All we're going to see is the receiver tube sticking out the bottom. The cross tube is going to be concealed by the rear fascia here, so we're not going to have to worry about it sticking down really far or distracting from the looks of our Jeep.It's going to offer us a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening so it's going to have a lot of different accessories available, all the way from our ball mount, our bike rack, our cargo carrier, and many other options. Now the way we're going to mount all those accessories is going to be through the forward hole here in the receiver. Now it's going to accept a standard five eight's pin and clip, and you'll notice that it's going to have a secondary hold towards the back. more

How to Install: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on your 2016 Jeep Patriot- Video
Speaker 1: Today on this 2016 Jeep Patriot we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Curt class two trailer hitch receiver, part number C12057.Here's what our hitch looks like installed. Now what's great about this hitch is that it's completely hidden behind our rear fascia. The only part you'll see sticking out is the class two inch and a quarter receiver itself. Now because this is a class two hitch even though it is an inch and quarter hitch we do have the ability to use cargo carriers with it. A class one inch and a quarter hitch you wouldn't have the ability to use many cargo carries with it because they aren't rated for the weight.On the side of our hitch you'll find our industry standard half inch diameter hitch pin hole to secure any of our hitch mounted accessories. The pin and clip is included with this hitch. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number: 118552.This wiring harness is gonna provide us with all the necessary lights for hauling our trailer. It'll give us our left turn, our right turn, brake, and tail lamps, with an included dust cover that will also allow it to be conveniently placed on our receiver for when we're ready to use it. It can stay on the outside of our vehicle the entire time.We'll begin our installation at the driver's side rear tail light. We'll have to remove this to install our harness. Go ahead and open the back hatch. We'll be removing both the push pins on the driver's side tail light. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Jeep Patriot we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Max Frame Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver, Part #75712. Now that our hitch is installed, you can see that our cross tube is tucked in back behind our bumper. There's no cutting or drilling required. 2" x 2" Class 3 receiver. It's gonna have a 5/8" hitch pin hole and then this smaller hole here is gonna be for a J-pin stabilization device only. As you can see, it has loop style safety chain rings so you have quite a bit of room to hook your safety chains on, on the front or the back. more

2010 Jeep Patriot Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver: Complete Installation- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Jeep Patriot, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class II trailer hitch receiver, part number 36423. Now that we have our hitch installed, as you can see, the cross tube is hidden behind the bumper. The only thing you can see is your receiver tube. It's going to be 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch receiver tube hole, and a 1/2 inch size hitch pin hole. Nice loop style design for your safety chains. It's going to give you plenty of room to hook on the front, or the back. more

Part number is 118552.Now, this is what your wiring harness is gonna look like when you pull it out of the package. This is what our ultimate end goal is, of course, a working four pole flat trailer connector at the rear of our vehicle. This gives us right turn and brake, left turn and brake, running lights, and ground. You can see there's also a nice cover there to help protect it when not in use. Now, that's gonna run into our module box.The module box is a standalone system. more

Yakima SwingDaddy Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Jeep Patriot- Video
Today, on our 2016 Jeep Patriot, we're going to be test-fitting the Yakima Swingdaddy 4-bike rack for 2-inch hitches, part number Y02464. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. The biggest feature about this rack is they can swing away from the vehicle, so you have full rear hatch access, which is pretty unique for a hanging style back rack. To do that, we'll come to this handle right here. We'll unscrew it from the back all the way until it hangs down, and then we'll lift up on this gray tab here, which will release it, and push it out a little bit. We'll pull it out until it's about 90 degrees or so from the vehicle or before we make contact with the tire to the vehicle, and then we'll swing it around until you hear that click, and then push it the rest of the way. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Jeep Patriot- Video
Today on our 2016 Jeep Patriot we're going to be test fitting the Thule Doubletrack Pro 2-bike platform rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number TH9054. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike is gripped to the bike rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have this frame clamp up at the top here as well as these two wheel straps on either side. The wheel cradles themselves, by lifting up these gray handles, are adjustable to accommodate bikes of different sizes, and these clamps do move out of the way for easy loading and unloading. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Today on our 2016 Jeep Patriot we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Classic 2 Bike Rack. Part number TH9044. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. One of the more prominent features of this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with two bikes still attached to get to our rear hatch. In order to do that we'll pull this silver pin at the base first, then pull this lever towards while holding onto the bike rack and letting it come down. Now we have full access to our rear hatch to get what we need, and plenty of space in between the hatch and the bike rack. Lift it back up into position by just lifting up on the bike rack until you hear it click. more

How to Install: CIPA Universal Fit Dual-View Towing Mirror on your 2016 Jeep Patriot- Video
Today on our 2016 Jeep Patriot, we're going to be doing a test fit on the CIPA dual view clip-on towing mirror. That's part number 11953. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park or even backup while towing a small trailer or camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. Between both mirrors, you get the same view just a closer, more clearer view in the larger mirror. more

Today on our 2012 Jeep Patriot, we'll be installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118552. Here's what our wiring kit consists of. As you can see we have our industry standard 4-pole flat here which will give us our required by law lighting functions in order to safely tow our trailer. This has our nice T connectors here so there's no cutting or splicing of any factory wires. These will just plug right into the factory wiring harness. We have one end going into your taillight assembly and one end going into the factory wiring harness. Makes a quick and easy installation there. Coming off our module here, this will isolate all of our trailer lighting systems from our vehicle's lighting system. more
