Best 2015 Jeep Patriot Trailer Hitch Options

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best trailer hitch options for your 2015 Jeep Patriot. Here on top we're going to have etrailer's hitch, part number E98836. Here in the middle we're going to have our Draw-Tite, part number 75712. Here on the bottom we're going to have the CURT, part number C13081.These three hitches we have here are going to be very, very similar. However, there are a few minor differences that I'm going to go over with you now. The first main difference I want to go over with you is going to be our weight capacity.

With our CURT and our etrailer, we're going to have a 400 pound tongue weight, which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube, and a 4,000 pound trailer weight, which is the trailer plus the load included. With our Draw-Tite, we're going to have a 525 pound tongue weight and a 3,500 pound max trailer weight. With our Draw-Tite having a higher tongue weight, that's going to make that hitch a little bit better for your recreational use, for your bike racks or your cargo carriers, where your CURT and your etrailer hitch have a higher trailer weighting so they're going to be a little bit better for hauling a load. Now with CURT, they do require the use of stabilization straps for any non-wheeled as far as our hitch pin holes, each one of them's going to have a 5/8" hitch pin hole. Draw-Tite is going to have an advantage because it's going to have an extra hole.

This hole right here is going to be for the j-pin stabilization device. The j-pin stabilization device is going to take any shake and play out of any of your hitch-mounted accessories.Another advantage that our Draw-Tite's going to have is you look in the back of the receiver tube, it's going to be sealed off. On the Patriot, the muffler runs along the back of the bumper fascia or just underneath of it. With the CURT and the etrailer hitch being open, if you we're to put a bike rack on, the bike rack shank is pretty long. If you take the bike rack and you shove it in there, you have the potential of damaging your muffler.

Draw-Tite, with that being steel back there, is only going to let that shank go in so far.The only other major difference in these three hitches is going to be the paint. Now keep in mind that with all of these paint styles the crosstube on each one of these hitches is completely hidden behind the bumper fascia. Only thing you're going to see is you're going to see this front part or the receiver tube. Our etrailer hitch, it's going to have a triple carbide black powder coat finish. It's really, really well done.

It's really going to resist any chipping or scratching, where our Draw-Tite and our CURT have a single coat black powder coat finish. Our Draw-Tite is going to be a semi-gloss, and then our CURT is going to be a gloss black. Each one of these hitches are going to be Class 3 hitches. They're going to be 2" by 2". They're all going to have rolled steel style safety chain loops. Gives you plenty of room for different size hooks. As far as the installation goes on these, it's all exactly the same.In summary, as far as tow capacity, I'm going to have to go with the etrailer and the CURT because it's going to give me 500 pounds more of a gross trailer weight rating. As far as tongue weight, I'll have to go with the Draw-Tite because that's going to give me 125 pounds more than the CURT and the etrailer hitch. As far as durability, I'm going to have to go with the etrailer hitch because of the triple carbide black powder coat finish. That'll do it for a look at the best trailer hitch options for your Jeep Patriot.
