etrailer Hitch Aligners - Collars - e58ZR Review

Jeff: Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this etrailer Hitch Pin Alignment Collar for Bike Racks, Cargo Carriers, Ball Mounts, on a one and a quarter inch hitch. Now, this hitch pin alignment collar will install on to your one and a quarter inch hitch accessory, and allow you to easily align the hitch pin hole that's on the shank of that accessory with the hitch pin hole that's on your hitch. So it helps eliminate you having to get down on your hands and knees to align the hitch pin holes. And it's designed to work perfectly for bike racks, cargo carriers, or even a ball mount. Now for this demonstration, you see I've pulled a one and a quarter inch size hitch. Have this one and a quarter inch ball mount that slides in there, and then the pinning clip to attach it.

So normally what you'll do is you'll take your ball mount, insert it in there, and then you'll take your pin, and push it into the hitch pin hole. And then as you slide your shank back, once it finds the hitch pin hole, then you just go ahead and clip it, just like that, then you're all ready to go.But the problem is, because this is located under the rear of your car, you usually have to get up underneath it to try to get this aligned and everything is sorted out. So what this alignment collar does, I'm going to take the pin and clip off. What you want to do with that, it's an alignment collar, it's a pretty easy one-time installation on most one and a quarter inch accessories. All you do is take this collar here, slide it onto the shank of your accessory, and push it all the way up and leave it loose. And then what you'll do is same way, go ahead and install your shank.

And first time, you just get to hold the line up, put your clip through there. And then what you'll do is you'll take this shank portion. Let me just zoom in here so you can see better. But this shank here with the knobs on it, you'll slide this all the way back up against the hitch receiver opening. And then you'll go ahead and start to tighten these knobs down.

And you'll do it equally on each side. So you do it, tighten it down evenly, and just keep holding it up against the hitch receiver opening. And once you get that tightened down enough, then what you can do is go ahead and pull your pin and clip, and you'll see that you can slide your accessory out, and that stays attached to that location. So what that does, that'll allow you, the next time, you just leave that on there. The next time you go to install this accessory, you don't have to try to line the holes up, you know just to push it back as far as it'll go. And with that, you know it'll line up.

And then you just take your clip, your pin and clip, and go ahead and clip it. And you're all ready to go. So every time you go to use this, you won't have to keep trying to find where the hitch pin holes will line up. It'll automatically put you in that position. And then if you need to, if you want to transfer that to a different accessory, you just loosen your knobs, just like that. And once you get it loose enough, it'll slide right off of the shank. And then you can use it on your bike rack or your cargo carrier, simple as that. Or you can buy extras of these and put them on each one. This part is a nice steel construction, has a black powder coat finish to it.But that should do it for the review on this etrailer Hitch Pin Alignment Collar for Bike Racks, Cargo Carriers, Ball Mounts on a one and a quarter inch size hitch..
