Review of Optronics Trailer Lights STL60RLBP

Today we are going to be taking a look at the Optronix LED combination tail light for the driver's side. This tail light is going to provide you with stop, turn, and tail light signals, and it is going to have a built-in backup light, which is this light right up here, and it is going to have a license plate light, clear lens with separate LED's down here, and it is going to have built-in reflex. What that is, is that it is a built-in reflector that goes around the perimeter of the light. This is designed for 12-volt applications. The LED's are going to be sealed and water proof. The lens is an acrylic construction, and then the housing is made from a durable plastic construction.

The lens is replaceable. It is just attached with 4 Phillips head screws. Now it is an LED system. LED's are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last longer, they burn brighter, they are much more efficient. You do not have to worry about replacing bulbs, and you do not have to worry about brittle filaments.

This light is SAE and Department of Transportation compliant. It meets FMBSS and CMVSS standards when properly installed. When it comes to the LED's, this light is going to contain a total of 57 LED's. For the tail light portion, that is this portion right here, it is going to have 16 LED's. The back-up light up here is going to contain 36 LED's, and then the license plate light is going to contain 5 LED's. It is a 4-wire design.

You can see we have the nice protective wire casing to keep our wires all together. 4-wire design, so you are going to have your white wire, which is ground, and then you are going to have you black wire which is for the tail light and license plate light, yellow is for reverse, and red is for stop and turn. You can else see here, that we have 3 mounting sets, and it does come with the necessary hardware to get that installed. A few measurements to go over with you really quick. We want to take a look at the overall height of the unit. That is going to give us a measurement of about 6 3/4 inch.

We take a look at the width edge to edge, we are looking at a measurement of around 5 13/7 inch. When it comes to the depth, like front to back of the housing, that is going to measure about 2 11/16 inch deep. Again, 3 mounting studs, we will to take a measurement of the separation we have between those as well. The 2 down here, these are going to be separated on 2 inch centers. If we do a diagonal measurement between these, we are looking at 2 1/4 inch, and that will be the same between this one and this one, as well. Now we are going to go and hook it up to our actual power source. That way we can see what it looks like with power running through it. We are also going to be able to turn off our overhead lights, so you can see it in a low-light setting. Again, we are going to connect our basic wire connections here. The white is going to be our ground wire, black is going to be for the tail lights and license plate light, and then red it for our stop and turn signal. We will get all that connected, and then I will show you the reverse light as well. You can see here, that it sends out a nice clear, consistent signal. Then again, we have got the license plate illuminator or license plate light down here. It is a clear lens, casts a light downward, that way you can illuminate the license plate. When it comes to the power draw for the unit, the power draw at 12.8 volts for the tail light is 0.013 amps. For the stop and turn signal, it is 0.308 amps, and for the back-up light it is going to be 0.328 amps. This is going to be the tail light, when we apply the brakes you can see how that increases the signal output, and then when we apply our turn signal, it is going to do the same thing. Now we will go ahead and turn on the reverse lights. You can see there, it is that light at the top, clear lens, white LED's, plenty of lights come through. Multi dob design is really going to help optimize light output, and Optronix is going to put a lifetime warranty on the LED's. That is going to do it for today's look at the Optronix LED combination tail light for the driver's side.
