Convert-A-Ball Gooseneck Trailer Coupler - Coupler with Inner Tube Only - CG Review

Today we're taking a look at the Convert-A-Ball Multi-Cushioned Gooseneck Trailer Coupler. This unit replaces the standard gooseneck coupler on your trailer. It pairs with an existing four-inch inner-diameter outer tube to create a gooseneck coupler for hooking your trailer up to your truck. It is cushioned with polyurethaned cushions for 360 degrees of protection and up-and-down cushioning, so they act as shock absorbers. That means less wear and tear on your equipment. Those internal cushions also reduce balance and rhythmic vibration. So, that's going to give you a safer, smoother ride.

And they also limit movement to a maximum of 3/4 of an inch. That this is equipped with a fail-safe, positive-lock feature to increase hitch-coupling safety. So, when you're ready to connect, make sure the lever's over in the open position and then once you're connected to a ball, you slide this over to the lock position. It engages. It locks, that way it cannot come detached from the ball. Also, there's a little slot here so you can add a padlock if you desire to do so.

Padlocks are sold separately. And, they are available a etrailer.com. The unit also comes with a steel extension handle, which is located right here. This extension handle allows you to slide the bar to the lock or unlock position from outside the truck, so that way you don't have to crawl around or climb up into the truck bed to disengage your coupler. It can be locked in transit or when parked.

Again, padlocks are sold separately. It's constructed of durable steel with a nice powder-coated finish. And in the interior is the polyurethane cushions. Product's made in the U.S.A. Overall it's a really nice design. Seems like it has really nice, clean, consistent welds on it.

This is designed for standard gooseneck trailers. It fits a 2-5/16 inch gooseneck hitch ball. Towing capacity is 30,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 4,000 pounds. Tube diameter is four inches. Tube height, so from this weld to the top of the tube, that's 22 inches. Overall height, as it sits on the table, measured around 25 1/4 to 25 3/8 inches, very bottom to very top. And then the extension handle length is also around 22 inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the Convert-A-Ball Multi-Cushioned Gooseneck Trailer Coupler.
