Question:
Hi, I have a customer who needs to purchase a hitch for a power wheelchair carrier. He has a 2012 Nissan Versa and all I can find are Class 1 hitches. Is there anything that I can purchase that will work for a wheelchair carrier that is 1 1/4 and weighs about 90 lbs and a power wheelchair that weighs about 200 lbs.

Whether your customer has a Sedan or Hatchback, his maximum tongue weight is 200 pounds.
Based on the wheelchair carrier weighing 90 pounds and the power wheelchair at 200 pounds Draw-Tite trailer hitch part # 24798 will not work with the 2012 Nissan Versa.
The reason is the tongue weight maximum capacity is 200 pounds and Class I hitches often lack the capacity to carry an electric wheelchair. The hitch mounted accessory does not lack the capacity, it is the vehicle. In your situation the total weight of the carrier and power wheel chair is 290 pounds.
I recommend carrying the wheelchair on a trailer because transport trailers can carry electric wheelchairs with ease.
The most popular hitch for a 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback recommend is the Draw-Tite Class-I trailer hitch # 24798, hitch wiring # 118545, ball mount # 3593 and 2-inch hitch ball # 19258.
If he has a sedan instead of the hatchback the most popular hitch is the Curt Class-I # C11256, hitch wiring # C56175, ball mount # C45520 and 2-inch hitch ball # 19258.
Dielectric grease # 11755 is always a good option because it protects the electrical connections and combats corrosion from water damage.
I have included a several FAQ's, instructions and video links for you as well.
