Wiring Harness to Connect Hayes Syncronizer Brake Controller # HA81725 to 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Question:

What wire harness do I use to connect my 81725 to a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500? I have been using it with a 2007 Dodge Dakota and wonder if that wire harness will also work for the Ran 1500?

The existing wiring harness you have used to connect your Hayes Syncronizer Trailer Brake Controller # HA81725 to your 2007 Dodge Dakota will also work to install this unit in your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. The harness is part # HA81782-HBC and it plugs in between the hardwired connector at the back of the controller and the connection port under the dash on your Ram 1500.

The Hayes Syncronizer brake controller # HA81725 is a time-delayed type as opposed to a proportional type brake controller. Time-delayed units are less costly and less sensitive to installation alignment, but proportional controllers will deliver better performance since they will match their output to your tow vehicle's deceleration. Time-delayed units apply the same pre-determined amount of braking power no matter how quickly your tow vehicle stops. This means more wear and tear on the tow vehicle's brakes than with proportional units.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 is among the most popular and reliable proportional brakes controllers we offer. Its advantages are further explained in the linked article. This controller will install in your 2005 Ram 1500 using harness # 3020-P.
