Installing Replacement Gear Pin On Bulldog Sidewind Jack
Updated 09/22/2014 | Published 09/20/2014 >
Question:
My gear pin broke so trying to replace the pin. I only see parts of one in my gear system but the repair kit here shows two. Does it require both or can it work with just one? Am going to order kit but not sure on the two vs one? Thanks,

I have attached a photo of the part # BD500106. As noted on the photo you can see that both pins are used in the places noted.
You will need to remove the cap on the top of the jack. The handle and gears are held in place with roll pins that will need to be removed. Once the handle roll pin is removed, you can then remove the handle and gears. Be sure to take note of the orientation of each part as you take the jack apart.
Remove the bottom gear by lifting it out. If the bottom roll pin is damaged, you will need to remove it. When replacing the bottom roll pin, use the shorter roll pin and place the gear on the roll pin making sure the slotted portion of the gear with closed end groove is placed over the pin, so that it will not allow the pin to come out of the side.
You will need to put it back together in reverse order.
