Can the Rollercam Spider Tie-Down Web Secure Different Sized Bags on a Roof Rack?
Published 11/06/2026 >
Question:
My wife and I do quite a bit of camping, and by the time we get the tent, sleeping bags, and everything else packed, theres hardly any room left in the SUV. Weve started putting some of our gear up on the roof rack, but its a pain trying to keep all those different sized bags secured with regular straps. I came across the Rollercam Spider and wondered how it works. Can I tighten each strap separately to hold everything in place, or do they all tighten together? Im also wondering if itll work with a mix of duffel bags and dry bags.

Hey Brian! Yes, you can tighten each strap separately with the Rollercam Spider Roof Rack Tie Down Web # RC295KR, and that's what makes this setup so handy when you're hauling a bunch of different sized bags. Instead of trying to get one long strap to hold everything together, you've got six individual 6 foot straps that connect through the central Spider system. You can adjust the tension on each one to help keep your duffel bags, dry bags, and other camping gear snug against your roof rack. That's a lot easier than trying to make one strap work around everything!
Each strap has a 350 lb working load limit, and the webbing is made to hold up in wet or dry conditions, which is nice when the weather changes halfway through your trip. Just make sure you're securing the straps through suitable attachment points and keeping everything within your roof rack and vehicle's weight limits. You'll also want to check the straps for wear and make sure your load is secure before hitting the road.
Are you using a roof basket on your SUV, or are you securing your gear directly to the crossbars?
