Repair Kits for MCD Duo Manual and Motorized RV Shades

Published 11/05/2026

Question:

I have 2 manual and 1 motorized MCD American Duo Day/Night shades that are broken. Do you sell the kits? The motor in the motorized one still works, but something inside all the shades is broken and they all 3 free fall. The motorized one is a American DUO Day/night Shade System. Thanks

Hi Patrick,

The manual shades fall when the internal tension springs or AutoStop locks fail. You'll need an internal spring repair kit but you'll need to measure the inner diameter of your shade roller tube and the width of the shade to determine which kit you need. All the spring kits we have for the MCD Duo shades are for a spring with a 17mm internal diameter.

- MCD Innovations RV Shade Repair Kit - Duo - Mini Spring - 17mm part # MC97SR; Fits shades up to 20" wide
-MCD Innovations RV Shade Repair Kit - Duo - Small Spring kit - 17mm part # MC47SR; Fits shades 20" to 36"
-MCD Innovations RV Shade Repair Kit - Duo - Medium Spring - 17mm part # MC67SR; Fits shades 36" to 55" wide
-MCD Innovations RV Shade Repair Kit - Duo - Large Spring Kit - 17mm part # MC77SR; Fits shades 55" and wider

For the motorized shade, the motor may not be broken but the internal plastic gears or the connection collar inside the tube have likely been stripped, which is why the shade is falling. Motorized shades don't use an internal spring and MCD doesn't have gear rebuild kits, so the whole motor unit will need to be replaced. We have different motor kits for different generations of MCD remote, so you'll need to determine what motor kit you need. On the remote case, there should be a small, white printed sticker or an engraved stamp with the model number. It could also be inside the battery compartment under where the batteries fit in. There is also a motor kit for a switch-controlled RV shade if you happen to have that one.

Does your motorized shade use a remote or switch to operate it? If it's a remote, what is the model number?

I will digest all this tomorrow, but thanks for all the great info. As for the motor, it is switch, not remote. Please advice on the right solution for the motorzied one based on the switch model. Thanks again
