Electric Trailer Dolly for an 8,000 lb Trailer with 1,100 lbs of Tongue Weight

Updated 11/05/2026 | Published 11/04/2026

Question:

I have a travel trailer that weighs about 8,000 lbs loaded with a measured tongue weight of 1,100 lbs. I'm looking for an electric trailer dolly to move it into a tight parking spot next to my garage. The driveway is paved and pretty much level. I was looking at the Parkit360 Force rated for 10,000 lbs, but I'm not sure if it can handle the tongue weight. Would that work, or do I need something heavier?

Hey Robert! With your trailer's 1,100 lb tongue weight, I recommend the Parkit360 Carrier Electric Trailer Dolly # PA76VR. Although the smaller Parkit360 Force # PA46VR can move trailers weighing up to 10,000 lbs, it has a 900 lb tongue weight limit so you'll be over that capacity.

The Carrier has a 13,000 lb trailer weight capacity and a 1,300 lb tongue weight capacity, so it can handle your 8,000 lb trailer without any issues. It also includes a wireless remote that lets you walk alongside your trailer and guide it into that tight parking spot without having to stand directly behind the dolly.

The Carrier includes both 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball adapters and has a built-in 7-way connection for your trailer's electric brakes. Your paved, level driveway is also ideal for using this dolly.

What kind of travel trailer do you have?

It's a 2024 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH. I have a pretty tight turn getting it alongside the garage, so being able to walk next to the trailer with the remote sounds perfect. Does the Carrier let me control the steering with the remote too?

@Robert yes, the # PA76VR lets you control both steering and movement using the wireless joystick remote. You can walk alongside your Imagine and make adjustments as you go, which should make getting into that tight parking spot a lot easier.
