Weather Cover For Winnebago Minnie 2529RG 29' Long Travel Trailer With Solar Panels On Roof

Published 11/04/2026

Question:

I have a Winnebago Minnie Winnie 2529RG with a factory installed solar panel with a wind deflector blade. Previous rv storage covers have shredded in this location I have used pool noodles to protect the corners but no luck. Do you know of a cover or a procedure to prevent this from happening?

Good morning Ron, sorry you were having that issue. I’m not aware of a storage cover specifically designed around the factory solar panel wind deflector on your Minnie Winnie 2529RG, but I have some things to consider.

Since pool noodles haven’t worked, I recommend covering the entire wind deflector with a wider, flatter protective layer before installing the RV cover. A folded moving blanket, foam sheet, thick folded tarp, or similar soft material works better than only padding the corners because it spreads the contact area out and keeps the cover from rubbing directly on the edge.

I’d also make sure the RV cover is pulled snug and use additional straps if needed to limit movement in the wind, since repeated rubbing is usually what causes the material to wear through. But also pulling too tightly can also stress the cover, so there's a happy middle area.

For your 2529RG, we do have covers such as # 290-74845 and # CA65DY, but I would still use extra padding over that solar deflector with any storage cover. The # CA65DY is a bit heavier duty so I'd go with this one. Does it rip in other spots or mainly just around the solar?
