Recommended Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit for 3,500 lbs Axles

Updated 11/02/2026 | Published 11/01/2026

Question:

Hi, Im looking to upgrade my trailer with a product like the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks. I have a Jayco 25RB 2023 model. It currently has 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/8 Long - Dacromet, MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4 Long Shackle Straps and MORryde Rubber Equalizers for Tandem Axle Trailers - 33 Wheelbase - 8K that I bought from you in March 2023. Ive noticed that one side of the trailer is beginning to sag again. Id like to increase the load rating a little, the dual axles are rated for 3500 lbs each but the trailer has a max weight of approx 7500 lbs so Id like to build in a little extra capacity. Its the second time that the leaf springs have sagged. What products can you recommend? Thanks.

Welcome back Iain. Since your 2023 Jayco Jay Feather 25RB has dual 3,500 lbs axles, I recommend the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers item # RM82MR.

The Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit item # RM82MR is going to replace your leaf springs, suspension bolts, and equalizers. This kit includes four slipper springs that are rated for 2,500 lbs so you will have plenty of capacity and support. The included nitrogen shock kit does a great job of combatting trailer bouncing, chucking, and porpoising.

Please note that the Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit item # RM82MR is designed for trailer's with 2-3/8" diameter 3,500 lbs axles. The Roadmaster item # RM49NQ is the next size up with 3,000 lbs capacity leaf springs but it only works with 3" diameter axles. I recommend confirming your axles' diameter before ordering.

What kind of roads do you typically travel and what side of your trailer is sagging? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

Hi Jerred, My research also suggested the 2-3/8" kit to be the best option but the label on the axle has the following info: LCI - SBSA - 86 - 68.5 - NOSP - OS - L - 545 - 7242 - 18PT - 3" V000211385 I cannot even find that axle on Lippert's website so that is confusing. It measures as a 3" axle. So the RM49NQ seems to be the one I will need. We travel on major roads, back roads and mostly state parks, some paved and some not. It's sagging on the kitchen side so I'm assuming that extra weight is he issue. Both times it's sagged on that side. Thanks, Iain

@IainR Thanks for that axle tag info. Lippert's website's is surprisingly not as bad as Dexter's but either way you definitely have a 3" diameter axle. That isn't too uncommon on travel trailers anymore. The thicker diameter helps them push the capacity. The Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit item # RM49NQ is definitely the correct one for 3" diameter axles. The kitchen being on that side makes sense. I was guessing a heavy slide out but that's for sure what's causing those leaf springs to wear out quicker. The shocks included with the Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit item # RM49NQ are really going to help when you're off the pavement. This will be an immediate noticeable upgrade. These are the top of the line suspension systems.

@JerredH I notice that one, RM49NQ, is for tandem 6k axles. Why would I not go for the tandem 5.2k axle kit: Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks - Tandem 5.2K Axles RM-2460-2560

@Iain You said you wanted to go up in capacity. The Roadmaster item # RM-2460-2560 has the same 2,500 lbs leaf springs that the 3,500 lbs item # RM82MR kit has. The Roadmaster item # RM49NQ has 3,000 lbs capacity leaf springs. The Roadmaster item # RM-2460-2560 will work with 3" diameter axles so it's not the wrong kit it just won't give you higher rated leaf springs.
