Can Two Parents Share the Thule Sapling Child Carrier Without Readjusting Everything?

Published 10/30/2026

Question:

My wife and I are planning some hiking trips with our 18 month old daughter this fall. We usually take turns carrying her since neither of us wants to haul her around the whole time. Im 61inch and my wife is 54. Is this backpack easy to adjust between two people that different in height, or would we be messing with straps every time we switch?

Hey Jason! The Thule Sapling Child Carrier # TH34FR43TB is actually a really nice option for parents who take turns carrying their little one. Both the torso length and hip belt are adjustable, so you and your wife can each get a comfortable fit even with that height difference. You will need to make a few adjustments when switching, but it's designed to be pretty straightforward, so you shouldn't have to spend half your hike figuring out how to get everything comfortable again.

One thing I really like about this carrier is the ErgoRide seat. Instead of having your daughter's legs hanging in traditional stirrups, it supports her underneath her legs, which should make those longer hikes a little more comfortable for her too. There's also a breathable back panel to help keep you cooler, a built in UPF 50 sunshade, and 22 liters of storage for diapers, snacks, and all those little things you somehow end up needing when hiking with a toddler. This carrier also comes with "agave green" with part # TH34FR63TB if you want to take a look.

Are you guys mostly planning shorter trails, or are you hoping to work your way up to some longer hikes with her?
