How to Light Up Back Light of Dynamics SS3 Max LED Pod Light Kit

Question:
Hi guys, this is might be a dumb question but Im trying to figure out how to wire the backlight feature. I see that you used a fuse tap and then ran a long green/yellow wire all the way from the interior fuse box to the foglights. Where does that long wire come from? Is that separate wiring that you got elsewhere and used for this purpose, or is it already in the car somewhere? If its separate wiring, what gauge is it/is there anything else to know about it? Thanks! DDY59QB

Hey Ryan, That's not a dumb question at all! The long green/yellow wire you see in our installation video for the Diode Dynamics SS3 Max Fog Light Kit # DDY59QB is separate wiring that our installer added. It's not part of the vehicle's factory wiring, and that long section isn't included with the light kit.
The kit includes the pigtail adapters for connecting the lights to your factory fog light wiring, but you'll need to supply additional wire if you want to run the backlight circuit to the interior fuse box.
I'd recommend using 18-gauge wire for this connection. The backlights draw very little power, so 18-gauge wire is more than sufficient but you could go heavier if you wanted.
For the installation, you'll need an appropriate add-a-fuse adapter, additional 18-gauge wire, and connectors to join the wire to the backlight leads. Be sure to use a properly fused circuit and an appropriately sized fuse for the added wiring.
In our video, the installer tapped into an ignition-switched fuse and routed the new wire through an existing firewall grommet, then along the vehicle's wiring toward the fog lights. This allows the backlights to come on with the ignition.
