How Do I Secure a Utopia UT86MR Faucet That Won't Tighten?

Question:

I purchased a used rv that has the Utopia ut86mr faucet in the bathroom and it is loose where the whole faucet turns. I’ve tightened the nut and set screws but it is still loose. How can I secure this faucet?

Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out! The Utopia RV Bathroom Faucet # UT86MR uses a mounting nut, washers, and set screws underneath the sink to secure it in place. for starters, I recommend removing the mounting hardware and checking that the washers are properly seated and that none of the hardware is damaged or stripped. Also inspect the sink surface around the mounting hole for any damage that might prevent the faucet from tightening securely.

If everything looks good but the faucet still moves, the mounting hardware itself may need to be replaced.

Is the entire faucet rotating at the base where it meets the countertop, or is just the upper portion of the faucet turning?

The untie fixer at the base want to rotate when moving the handle to hot or cold.

@MikeS That sounds like an issue with the mounting hardware, rather than the faucet itself. I'd recommend removing it and checking the mounting nut, washers, and set screws for damage or stripped threads. If everything looks good but it still won't tighten securely, the mounting hardware may need to be replaced.
