Question:

Hi, I need to remove the hitch on my Chevy trax and transfer it to a new vehicle. Im all good except for the wire used to guide the bolts through the unibody structure. I want to recover the bolts and backing plates for re-use. how do I purchase these from you. Thanks,

Welcome back Doug. To move the Curt Hitch item # C75VV to a new vehicle, you'll need the Replacement Hardware for Curt Hitch item # C34FR67KY. This kit comes with four brand new fish wire tools, carriage bolts, serrated flange nuts, and square hole spacers. These are the exact same grade of hardware originally provided with the Curt item # C75VV hitch.

It is not recommended or a good idea to reuse your old mounting hardware. The hardware that comes with a hitch is only meant to be installed and torqued to specs one time. Reusing the bolts and nuts is dangerous because of thread wear, metal fatigue, and corrosion. Hitch bolts are subjected to high torque and constant shear forces. Metal stretches and weakens over its lifespan, severely reducing its tensile strength. You don't want to worry about your bolts breaking if you're towing a trailer or hauling a bike rack or cargo carrier.

The Curt item # C75VV hitch is designed to fit the 2024 - 2027 Buick Envista and the 2024 - 2026 Chevrolet Trax. I attached the installation instructions along with a couple of videos we made to help you get the hitch reinstalled.

What year, make, and model vehicle are you moving the hitch to? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.
