Will EcoHitch Hidden Front Hitch Interfere With Adaptive Cruise Control

Updated 10/27/2026 | Published 10/24/2026

Question:

I want to add front recovery points to 2022 Ford Transit 350 HD Winnebago EKKO RV. EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2 Part Number: EH79CR is listed as compatible with caveat that it will interfere adaptive cruise control sensor, per ETrailer. Torklift tech support told me it wont interfere. My question is this: Is the interference noted by ETrailer caused by mounting bikes, license plate, etc., to the hitch receiver after installation OR by the installation of the hitch receiver itself?

Hey John! The tech note we have is that the EcoHitch # EH79CR "may" interfere with the adaptive cruise control. The placement of those sensors isn't always perfect so it is possible it could pick up the hitch. I would expect it to not interfere as EcoHitch said, that would be the norm. Of course, if you have a bike rack or other accessories mounted on the front those would likely get picked up by the sensors.

Are you planning to use the front receiver strictly for recovery, or do you have other uses in mind?

Thanks for the reply, Robin. Recovery is the biggie. The RV curb weight is 11,000 lbs, this hitch is rated at 10,000 lbs for line pull but it's the stoutest I have found. There are no factory-provided front recovery points on the rig, though, so this is better than nothing... Do you have any other suggestions?

@JohnF the EcoHitch # EH79CR is probably your best option for adding a front recovery point, but keep in mind that its 10,000 lb rating is below your EKKO's 11,000 lb curb weight. Recovery forces can also exceed the vehicle's weight depending on how badly you're stuck.

Very happy with the front hitch. Installer said it was a very simple installation. Took under 2 hours. Front bumper does need to be removed which was the slowest part. Once off the hitch bolted in quickly and fit without problems.

@MichaelM that's good to hear! Getting the bumper off is usually the biggest part of an installation like this, so it's nice that everything lined up and bolted right into place. Appreciate you sharing how the installation went!
