Question:

Good morning, I have a friend that just purchased a 2014 Honda CRV for towing brehind a motorhome. Is there any base plaaate available for this that does not require removing the bumper cover? If not, what is the easiest base plate to install? Thanks. Douglas Smith

Hey Douglas!

All of our baseplate options for the 2014 Honda CR-V require removing the bumper for installation. After looking through all of the instructions, though, I believe our etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98955 is going to be the simplest installation. The instructions give you great step-by-step guidance on which and how many screws will be removed, clear pictures of where you are in the installation, and you only need the most basic tools to complete the installation. If it's something you're doing yourself, I'm confident you can do it in a driveway or garage within a couple of hours.

From there, you'll want to make sure you have the right tow bar connection. If they have a Blue Ox, etrailer, Demco, or Curt tow bar, you won't need any adapters. If your friend has a Roadmaster Tracker, Falcon 2, Falcon All-Terrain, Blackhawk, Blackhawk All-Terrain, or Sterling tow bars with serial numbers up to 14,500, they'll need the Roadmaster Tow Bar Adapter Brackets # DM9523036. Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain, Sterling All-Terrain, and Sterling tow bars with serial numbers 14,501 and above will need the Roadmaster Tow Bar Adapter Brackets DM9523062.

What type of motorhome is your friend going to be towing the CR-V with and do they already have the tow bar wiring and supplemental braking system?
