Question:
Can I leave this hitch installed on my truck year round? Will it hold up in rain and snow and what maintenance does the air bag and dual shock absorbers require?

Thanks for reaching out Joey. The Air Safe Shock Absorbing Ball Mount # AS76FR features a durable powder coated finish that provides excellent resistance to rust and corrosion. It will hold up well to exposure to rain, snow, and other weather conditions. That said, I'd still recommend removing the ball mount when you're not using it to tow. While the hitch is designed to withstand the elements, leaving it exposed unnecessarily can contribute to premature wear. There's also the potential for theft or accidental damage. Another consideration is the weight. At approximately 85 lbs, the # AS76FR is considerably heavier than a traditional ball mount, so there's really no benefit to leaving that extra weight hanging off your receiver when you're not towing.
As far as maintenance goes, it's going to be pretty minimal. One of the advantages of the Air Safe design is that it doesn't use traditional pivot points, so it won't require regular greasing. Air Safe recommends periodically cleaning the hitch, especially after towing in harsh conditions where it may be exposed to road salt, sand, or saltwater. This helps prevent corrosion and keeps the components in good condition. You'll also want to occasionally inspect the air bag, steel tie rods, mounting hardware, and other components for signs of wear or damage. I've included a screenshot from Air Safe's website below outlining their recommended maintenance procedures.
What are you planning on towing with the Air Safe ball mount?
