Question:
Im looking at the Timberline 1.0 Hydronic Heating System TL798MR for my RV and like the idea of having both heat and hot water from one system. Can I run it on electricity when Im plugged into shore power and switch to diesel when Im camping off-grid?

Hey Barry, thanks for reaching out. Yes, and that's one of the things I really like about the Timberline 1.0 Hydronic Heating System # TL798MR. You get both interior heat and hot water from one system, and you're not stuck relying on diesel all the time. When you're hooked up to shore power, you can use the built-in 1,500-watt electric heating element to help keep the RV warm and provide hot water without burning through your diesel. When you're boondocking or camping somewhere without hookups, the diesel burner takes over and gives you the heating power you need.
Another nice feature is that you can use both heat sources together, so if you're camping in colder weather and the electric element isn't keeping up, the diesel burner can kick in to make up the difference. That's a big plus if you camp year-round or spend time in places where temperatures really drop at night. Just keep in mind that the electric element doesn't put out nearly as much heat as the diesel burner, so I wouldn't rely on electric alone in really cold weather.
Are you looking to replace your RV's existing furnace and water heater, or are you setting up a heating system for a new camper build?
