How Much Weight Can BAKFlip MX4 TS Hold

Question:

Hi etrailer, I'm looking at the BAKFlip MX4 TS for my 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 with the short bed. How much weight can the cover actually hold? I occasionally set tools and other gear on my tonneau while I'm loading the truck.

Hi Daniel, congratulations on the new Sierra! The BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK88HV is rated to support up to 400 lbs of evenly distributed weight, so it is plenty sturdy for setting tools or other gear on top while you're loading your truck. The important part is that 400 lb rating is for weight spread across the cover. I wouldn't put a really heavy concentrated load in the middle of a single panel.
