Question:
I have a 2018 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 174BH with an older Advent Air unit that is on its last leg. It blows straight down into the camper so there's no vents.. There’s no wall thermostat, just controls at the ceiling. Is the new non-ducted Advent Air kit the one I’d need?

Hey Amanda, yes -2 since your 2018 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 174BH has a ceiling assembly with the controls right there and no wall thermostat, I’d look at one of the non-ducted Advent Air kits. The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - 13,500 Btu - Non-Ducted - Black # ADV27QR would be the closest style, or you could step up to the 15,500 Btu non-ducted kit # ADV49QR if you want more cooling capacity.
The non-ducted setup is made for campers where the cool air comes directly from the ceiling assembly instead of being routed through ceiling ducts. This is also a nice upgrade from the older Advent Air ceiling assemblies with knob-style controls. The new non-ducted air distribution box has a cleaner, more modern touch-button setup, so it looks and feels a lot more current inside the camper.
Since your current system is older, I would replace it as a complete matched kit instead of trying to reuse old ceiling components with the new R32 rooftop unit. Do you know if your current Jay Flight AC is a 13,500 BTU unit, or are you trying to get a little more cooling power this time around?
