Will I need to Trim Plastic Bed Liner To Install Extang E-Series on 2026 Colorado Trail Boss
Updated 03/18/2026 | Published 03/17/2026 >
Question:
Hi, my 2026 Colorado Trail Boss came with a factory installed bed liner. Will this cover fit without any modifications or will I have to cut out parts of the bed liner? I am interested in buying one of your covers. Thanks! Rick

Hi Rick, great question and I’m glad you checked before installing anything since the bed liner can definitely affect how these covers fit.
For the Extang E-Series folding cover part # EX94UV on your 2026 Colorado Trail Boss, it will depend on the type of factory liner you have. If your truck has a drop-in plastic bed liner or plastic rail caps that extend down over the metal bed rails, you will likely need to trim those areas slightly so the clamps can make solid contact with the truck’s sheet metal. Without that contact, the cover won’t clamp down securely or seal as well as it should. I have attached the page from the instructions that explain this.
If your liner is a spray-in style, you’re in much better shape since those usually don’t interfere and the cover can install cleanly without any modification. The goal is a tight, flush clamp to the metal rail so you get a solid fit and good weather sealing without any shifting over time.
If you’re not sure which style you have, I can help you confirm it before you order so there are no surprises during install.
What do you usually carry in your bed, tools, camping gear, bikes, or something else?
