Question:

I need an extender for a 2inch square tube hitch so I can attach a bike rack. Are any of these extenders threaded so that I can tighten the extender onto my existing hitch, making it more rattle free?

Hello George,

We have something that is going to help with the rattle, but there are not any threaded extenders.

You will want to use the Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 8" Long # 80307 with our etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar for 2" Hitch Receivers # e38FV.

I would like to point out that by using any extender like the # 80307 will cut your tongue weight in half.

What kind of bikes do you have, and carrier? We have the Katy Trail out here in Missouri and it is jam packed with riders.

Hey George, how did the hitch extender and anti-rattle collar work out for your bike rack setup? Your feedback could really help others looking to cut down on hitch noise.

@KateF The hitch extender, by itself, did just what it promised, but it rattled - loudly, even without a bike rack. The anti-rattle collar snugged up the extender to the hitch and solved my problem - stopped 90% of the rattle.
