I have a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller. Do you have an adapter plug for my 2017 GMC Yukon XL SLT?

Hi Michael!

The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3016 is what you are looking for. This will get your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 plugged right into your 2017 GMC Yukon XL SLT. Luckily, Tekonsha uses the same port on the back of all their controllers, so this will fit perfectly!

What kind of trailer are you towing?

Hey Michael, how did the Tekonsha wiring adapter work with your Yukon XL and Prodigy P2 controller? It’d be great to hear how the setup performed with your trailer. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same setup.

@LazerS It isn’t working. I connected it to the car (2017 Yukon Xl SLT) and my Prodigy P2. I moved a trailer and the brakes were not working. I thought it was an issue with the trailer. I just brought home our new to us camper and the controller definitely is not working. Lights are all working on the trailer but when I even try to manually engage the brakes with the lever it does not brake.

@MichaelB Well that's no good. First thing I would do is check your towing fuses. They can and do go bad and I have seen a controller look like it was working but there were no brakes on the trailer. Your owner's manual will say which ones are specific to towing com[ponents. Have you also checked the brake output port on the 7-way on your Yukon (the one in the 5 o'clock position)? If not, have someone actuate the manual override on the brake controller while you are using some kind of tester on that port. If you are not getting a tone, or light, or whatever, you are going to have to move up that wire to find what is most likely a break or short. That said, tracing that wire is a pain in the butt and if I had this going on, I would just replace it with something like the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Pole Flat Connectors # C55774. Let me know if any of that gets it working again.
