Looking For Replacement Axle For 25' Utility Trailer

Updated 11/13/2025 | Published 10/16/2025

Question:

Hello, I inherited a 25ft utility trailer that has the hubs that hold the rims that are just the outer wheel. The wheels are held on by a big star with 5 bolts. From what I have seen, these are mobile home axles. And I have read that MH axles are not for regular use. So my question is, what axle with e-brakes would be recommended for a 25ft utility trailer that would be hauling skid steers? Thanks!

Hello Dave, thanks for reaching out. You are correct that mobile home axles are not intended to be re used. They are made for getting a mobile home to its destination. People love to try to re use them because they are cheap and readily available, but often times they use oddball bearings and hubs and traditional trailer hubs will not fit.

That said, we may have a replacement axle for you. Our highest rated axle is 7,000 lb rated like part # e83SR. This has a 95" hub face measurement and 80" spring center. You will want to measure the current axles and make sure this matches. Or if you need something different just let me know.

Do you know the GVWR of this trailer? Or the total loaded weight?

Hey Dave, did you get a chance to measure your current axles to see if the 7,000‑lb replacement axle lines up with your trailer? Once you have those numbers, I can help confirm the right fit. Your update could make it easier for others working with older mobile home axles too.

@JesseM, I sold the trailer to a guy who just wanted to haul hay around his property
