Question:
We use a Big Tex dump trailer with a cast Bulldog coupler. Would the alter icon trailer lock AL38DQ hold up against jobsite theft?
asked by: Dave
Expert Reply:
Dave, yes - this is where the ICON # AL38DQ 2-5/16" cast style lock shines (also available in flat lip style 2-5/16" # AL63DQ). It’s made from a single piece of hardened steel, strong and bulky enough to shrug off sledgehammer hits, and the anti-drill face just spins a drill bit if you try to drill it out. Most “jobsite thefts” happen fast but ICON forces a thief to spend 20+ minutes with power tools, which usually sends them packing it up and moving to an easier target.
There's also some youtube videos that show how tough these things are!
Do you leave the trailer overnight often, or just during the day?
