Question:
wanting to know cab to axle clearance for 2010 F150 SuperCrew 61/2 foot bed. I measure from center of axle to cab approx 371/2. What is needed for clearance? I had a f250 swb supercab and i think it measured approx 38-39 from center of axle to cab. Need help. Will I have enought clearance.

According to the instructions included with the installation kit part # RP50081-58, the distance from the rear axle centerline to the rear of the cab is approximately 39-1/4 inches. The hitch would install so that the trailer king pin falls 2-1/4 inches forward of that point,approximately 37 inches to the rear of the truck cab.
You will certainly need a hitch with a slider, although the width of your trailer will determine if you are able to negotiate 90 degree turns without the trailer loft striking the rear of the cab.
Using a Sidewinder in conjunction with a standard hitch will allow for the most clearance between the front of the trailer and the rear of the truck. The Sidewinder relocates the pivot point between the trailer and the hitch from the connection between the king pin and the hitch jaws to the point where the pin box connects to the trailer.
To determine the approximate clearance you will have, there is a formula that you can use.
For a hitch with slider, (A+B)-C= Clearance. A is the distance from the rear of the cab to the point where the king pin locks into the hitch. B is the distance that the slider will slide to the rear, and C is half the width of the trailer.
In your case, when using a sliding hitch, the measurement for A would be the 37 inches measured above, plus the 10 inches that the Reese Sliding hitches will travel for a total of 47 inches. From this figure, subtract half the width of your trailer. The result will tell you if you have enough clearance to negotiate 90 degree turns without the trailer striking the rear of the cab. Keep in mind, that the hitch should only be slid rearward during low speed maneuvering, not while towing in traffic.
To determine the clearance that would be provided by the Sidewinder, use the same formula but use 22 inches for the B measurement.
The Sidewinder option would give you the best chance of being able to make a 90 degree turn.
