Hi Kati!
The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 will indeed fit your 2010 Ford Ranger 4x4 with the V6! Do you know if your truck came with the factory towing package? If it did, there will be 4 blunt cut wires under the dash that will need to be spliced into the pigtail harness that comes with the controller. I am pretty sure those wires are labeled, but you may need to test them for function.
If you do not have the factory towing package, you will need a couple other parts to complete the install. You will need to start with a 4-flat like the # C58044, if you do not already have one. From there, you will want the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This will piggyback off a 4-flat and has all the wiring needed to get a brake controller up and running. It will be a bit more work, but it's not overly difficult to do.
What kind of trailer will you be towing?
