Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Be Installed On An Enclosed Trailer?

Hello Derrick, thanks for reaching out. The Advent AC units are not approved for enclosed trailers because the manufacturer does not cover installation on that type of trailer under their warranty. They technically only approve it for RVs and campers that are prepped for/ or already have Ac units installed. They do not cover installation on school buses, food trucks, enclosed/utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles. This mostly has to do with the thickness and strength of the roof itself.

That said, it is completely possible to install an AC unit on an enclosed trailer, but there are a lot of additional considerations compared to installing one on a pre-prepped camper. You will need to make sure the roof structure is strong enough to support an AC system around 100 lbs. You also need to make sure the roof thickness is between 2-1/2" and 5" and that it is set up to properly house the distribution box and all of the wiring and thermostat. it can be done, just know it will not be covered under warranty. This will be the case for any RV AC unit.

Using The Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System # ASA69YR is a good choice though. It has a manual distribution box so you controls will be right on the ceiling and you won't have to run as much wiring thru the walls.
