Will The DT38KV Interfere With Kick Sensor On 2024 Honda Prologue?

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 05/07/2025

Question:

I have a 2024 Honda Prologue Elite. I purchased the Draw Tite hitch model DT38KV. I have read the instructions and I do understand I have to trim an under carriage panel. My question is have you guys run into an issue with the tailgate sensor that’s under there and if I put my bike rack on there, will the sensor pick it up and activate the trunk or do I have to move the sensor? I didn’t see anything in the instructions about that. Appreciate any info you can give me thanks. Fernando

Hey Fernando,

That is a great hitch option for your vehicle. Our techs as well as Draw-Tite have not reported issues with this hitch interfering with that kick feature. The bike rack you use will not have any effect on the sensor, so having the bike rack on will not open the trunk or set off that sensor for you!

In past vehicles and hitches if there is ever an issue with a hitch interfering with the kick sensor we have found that just moving to the right or left of the hitch receiver allows it to work. Since the sensor is right in the center where the hitch would sit, kicking to the right or left would get this feature working again. There is also the solution of relocating the sensor entirely, but if it is not too inconvenient for you I would recommend trying the left or the right side first before trying to relocate the sensor.

Let me know what you think and how that works for you.

Hey Fernando, Did you have a chance to try moving to the right or left of the hitch receiver to see if the kick sensor works with your bike rack on? I'm curious to know how it turned out for you, as it could help others with similar setups.
