Recommended 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box for a Trailer w/ a Rhino Box

Updated 05/14/2025 | Published 05/03/2025

Question:

Hi. I have 2022 Forestriver Wildcat 302BH 5thwheel camper, and my truck is 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 HD short bed. My camper dealership used goosenecks adapter welded to Lipper Rhino pin box, so I can have the clearance when towing with my short bed truck. Now I’d like to upgrade Gen-Y gooseneck but I don’t know which one is compatible. Should I buy the highest rating 30K GVW? And should I buy the genY 5” offset ball too? Thank you in advance.

Hey Luan, thank you so much for all of the information and pictures. For your 2022 Forestriver Wildcat 302BH, you'll need the Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY98GR. This one works best with the capacity of your trailer and fits the Rhino Box bolt pattern.

You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks item # GY49GR. State laws require use of safety chains with a gooseneck hitch and they are not included with the pin box.

If your 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 has the factory puck system, I highly recommend using the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for GM OEM Puck Systems item # GY55XR. This adapter will push the goose ball connection point 5" back towards your tailgate to give you additional turning clearance.

What's your dog's name?

I can’t add this GY98GR anymore. Is it out of stock?

@Luan That is correct and it doesn't look like it's going to be restocked anytime soon. An alternative option that will fit the Rhino Box on your 5th wheel trailer is the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY33GR.
