Hello Bry,
I am sorry the Prodigy P2 keeps popping a fuse, let's see if we can get you in good working order.
You're dealing with a fuse that keeps blowing whenever you plug in your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller # 90885 in your 2006 Ford van (that was the vehicle in the fitguide). This usually points to a short somewhere in the wiring, most often with the black wire that supplies 12V power to the controller. If that wire is pinched or the insulation is damaged especially where it runs through the firewall or around metal it can short out against the chassis and pop the fuse right away.
It’s also worth checking that you're using the correct wiring adapter. For most 2006 Ford vans with a factory trailer connector, the Tekonsha # 3035-P harness is the right one. If you're using the wrong adapter or if the plug is damaged, that could definitely cause issues. Another common problem is tapping into the wrong fuse or using one that’s too small. The P2 needs its own 20-amp circuit, sharing power with something else or running through an undersized fuse can cause it to blow under load.
There’s also a chance the brake controller itself is bad. If something inside it has failed, like a shorted capacitor, it could draw too much current and blow the fuse. One quick way to test that: unplug the brake controller but leave the vehicle harness connected. If the fuse still blows, the problem is in the wiring or the harness. If it doesn’t, then the controller may be the issue.
If you have a multimeter handy, you can also check each wire: the black wire should have constant 12V, the white should be a good ground, the red wire should only get power when you hit the brake pedal, and the blue brake output wire should stay quiet until the brakes are applied. Also take a look under the dash and in the engine bay for any signs of melted wires, loose connections, or anything that looks out of place.
Please let me know what you find out. If you are still having the issue please tell me which fuse is blowing (its number or where it’s located) so I can try to dig a little deeper.

Hey Bry, what ended up happening with the fuse issue on your Prodigy P2 brake controller? Did checking the wiring and harness help you track down the short? Sharing what fixed it could really help others running into the same problem.
