How to Mount a Snow Board Carrier on a Mustang

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/07/2025

Question:

Seeing as the mustang never had roof mount points, i am investigating a hitch and snowboard mount. If it is even possible... the class 1 should be plenty for 2-3 boards and the thule mount. Is this idea even possible, given how low a car/hitch mount would be? Or maybe the thule or other hitch carriers are adjustable, rotatable to achieve adequate ground/side clearance. thank you

Hey Dave! I can set your 2023 Mustang up with a hitch item # 24928, but I do not have any hitch mounted snowboard carriers that will work with it. That Draw-Tite Hitch item # 24928 and the Curt item # C11405 are both class I hitches so I am not sure there's going to be any options out there.

The best I can do, and hope you don't have a convertible, is the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack item # 298-SX6000B. These attach by high strength suction cups so you don't need roof mounts. These are the heavy duty ones like you see glass glazers use so they won't go anywhere.

With that platform you could attach the Yakima FatCat EVO 4 Ski and Snowboard Carrier - Locking item # Y03095. This carrier fits up to four pairs of skis and two snowboards.

Hey Dave, did you end up trying the SeaSucker Monkey Bars setup on your Mustang? I'm curious how the fit and stability turned out with the Yakima snowboard carrier. Your experience could help others looking for a way to carry boards without roof mounts.
