Hello Shawn. The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 is what I recommend for your 1988 Chevy P30 Step Van. If your van already has a 7-way, you can hardwire the controller using the included pigtail. If you do not have a 7-way already, you will need the Curt-T Connector # C55338 and the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 to complete your installation.

Hey Shawn, how did the setup with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 work out on your Chevy P30 Step Van? Did the wiring with the Curt T-Connector and the ETBC7 kit go smoothly? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on a similar van.
