Question:
We want to purchase a Curt 16516 E16 hitch with R16 slider because we need to lower our hitch to level out. We need the lowest setting on the hitch to be 14 or lower from the top of the pivot head to top of rail. Does this hitch give us this? One place on the description says 15-17 inches, but the specs say 14-17 inches. Which is correct? Also, does this hitch assembly come with the correct saddle bracket, or would we need to also purchase the 16505 bracket? Thanks,

Hi Debra,
Sliding bases on 5th wheel hitches will typically prevent you from using the lowest height setting. The slide lever on the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller # 16516 prevents it from using the lowest set of mounting points on the hitch head.
Since you can't lower the hitch head any more and there aren't any other options that can achieve a 14" height, the only other option would be to raise the height of the trailer. If you want to do this we offer over-under conversion kits # K71-384-00 (2-3/8" diameter axles) and # K71-385-00 (3" diameter axles) that can be used to flip the leaf springs from below the axle to above them for extra height.
The Curt # 16516 would be bolted directly to the slider base so you would not need the # C16505 adapter.
