Recommended 4 Pole Wiring Harness for a 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Updated 10/14/2024 | Published 06/24/2024

Question:

2010 jeep wrangler, installed Hopkins wire harness for flat towing. Works great. Now have added hitch for towing. How do I get lights working for that? There is a Hopkins kit for that. Do they make any kind of adapter to use both? Or do I need to splice a four wire plug in somewhere?

Max, to install a standard trailer towing harness on your 2010 Jeep Wrangler you're just going to need the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM42635. This harness installs into your Jeep's factory wiring and will provide a 4-pole at the rear.

Also, according to Hopkins, you can use both the # HM42635 trailer wiring harness and their # HM56200 flat towing wiring harness at the same time.

I’ve installed both the 56200 and 42635 harnesses on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. When not connected to my motorhome, everything works great. Trouble is when I connect my motorhome, all lights work except right blinker from 4 pole connector. What could wrong or what do I need?

@SteveC Steve, it could be the wire itself that carries the signal that's the issue, or maybe the harness is not making a good connection. I'd suggest also checking that there is enough power flowing on that circuit.
