Question:
The spring in the latches stick. Can I purchase new latches only or is there a recommended lubricant?

Hey Laverne,
You can use some brake cleaner to remove any dirt/grease/debris build up on the springs and then lubricate them with a white lithium grease # RM-747 to lubricate without attracting more dirt. If the latches need to be replaced you'll want to reach out to Stromberg Carlson to avoid having to repurchase the entire tailgate.

Hey Laverne, did the brake cleaner and white lithium grease free up the latches on your tailgate? Knowing how that worked could help others dealing with sticky springs too.
