Looking For Gen-Y Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box For A 2020 Wolfpack 335PACK13

Updated 02/18/2026 | Published 06/22/2024

Question:

Hello, I am purchasing a new to me toy hauler fifth wheel 2020 335 Wolfpack 13 that I would like to convert to a goose neck setup. My tow vehicle is a 2024 GMC 3500 AT4 short bed. I have been looking at the GenY setup but I am open to suggestions. Whatever I go with needs to be compatible with a 4 lifted truck. Thank you!

Hello Jeff. The Gen-Y goosebox is definitely what I recommend if you want to switch your 5th wheel pin box over to a gooseneck. The Gen-Y boxes use torsion rubber which helps to absorb road shock and smooth out your ride, so it will be a nice upgrade from a standard pin box. The Gey-Y products in general are super solid and durable. Made here in the USA too.

In order to recommend the correct Gen-Y goosebox, we will need to first determine the pin box size that is currently on your camper. There should be a sticker on the pin box that shows the brand, model number, serial number and stuff. If you can provide me with that info I can determine what the correct replacement will be. If no sticker is present, you can use our measuring chart to determine the size by measuring the bolt hold spacing. You will find the measuring guide linked below.

For example, the Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY38FR will replace the Lippert 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes which are very common. This model is made for trailers with a pin weight between 2,500 and 4,500 lbs, so it will be appropriately rated for your camper.

Keep in mind that there is not a goosebox made specifically for a truck with a 4" lift, so you will need to be sure you have clearance between the bed rails and the nose of the camper. If you have clearance with the current pin box, the Gen-Y goosebox will also have clearance.

Hey Jeff, were you able to check the pin box label or take the measurements for your Wolfpack 335? Once you have that info, I can confirm which Gen-Y goosebox will match your setup. Let me know what you find—I'm here if you need a hand narrowing it down.

@JesseM Hi Jesse, sorry this was a long time ago now and I didn't realize you had replied. I do not own that trailer anymore but I did go with the Gen Y setup and it worked great. The only thing I would have changed if I was to do it again would be to get a taller drop ball to place in the bed. It was fine to tow in most areas but it was pretty close to the bed rails and I had some contact on really uneven roads. Thanks for your reply.

@Jeff Hey Jeff, no worries at all! Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to hear the Gen-Y setup ended up working out. And doing a high-rise ball definitely would have made sense to help with clearance. Did you end up picking up a different camper?

@JesseM Yes! I have a 2025 Intech Blackwing 830-X. We love it. It's a bumper pull and is very off grid capable. Just finishing up a solar package with 560ah lithium and inverter setup. Only gripe is that there is some sway when fully loaded at higher speeds. At the time I purchased the trailer there was no option for sway control.
