The Yakima Rack and Roll trailer # Y08106 uses metal crossbars. Plastic bars would not be able to handle the 250 pound capacity the trailer is rated for.
Please note to reach the 250 pound capacity it is recommended to upgrade the trailer with heavy duty shocks, # Y08110.
