Replacement Leaf Spring Recommendation for a 2008 Interstate Enclosed Trailer

Updated 05/05/2014 | Published 05/01/2014

Question:

Hi, I have a 2008 Interstate enclosed trailer. I broke one leaf spring on a recent haul. The GVWR is 7000 lbs. Should I replace all four springs, just to be safe ? The other three seem to be showing their age. Also is the 1750 lb spring the proper fitment. They seem to measure at about 26inch eye to eye.Thank You.

Yes, I would strongly recommend you replace all four at the same time. We always recommend they all get replaced at the same time to be safe. Since your trailer capacity is 7,000 lbs and your worn out springs are 26 inches long the correct replacement spring for you would be the Spring # 54SR. Four of these will have 7,000 lbs of capacity and they are 25-1/8 inches long so they will match up perfectly for you.

Springs tend to flatten out over time and get longer, so your 26 inch springs were probably 25-1/8 inches when they were new.

I attached an FAQ on trailer suspension for you to check out also.
