Unfortunately I am not sure the dealer you spoke to knows exactly what he was talking about either. I am not aware of any 6-pin or 4-pin European connectors for a trailer. It sounds to me like you may have a 6-Pole Square Trailer Wiring Connector # 37995 which I have seen installed on a lot of motorcycles. This is going to put the brake lights on a separate circuit coming off your bike.
My recommendation would be to just install the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59496 onto your 2003 Honda Goldwing as it has a 4-way flat. That sounds like the connector you most likely have on your Northern Tool trailer and is one of the most popular connectors found on small trailers anymore. The 4-way combines the turn signals and brake lights into the same circuit wire and the powered converter helps protect the wiring on the motorcycle from being overloaded by the trailer draw.
If you have some other type of connector on the motorcycle or trailer please let me know so I can ensure we find you the best solution.
